Default 2014 Toyota Corolla Altis Grande

    Salam members,

Let me introduce you to my new car. After six months of waiting i booked this car at Toyota Capital Motors Islamabad on 18th July, 2014. Initially they gave me an approximate delivery date of second week of August but i got a call from them just 3 days before Eid that my car was here. My Salute to them !!

Of course it was not an easy decision as i had to choose between Honda Civic VTi Oriel MT (2,253,000 PKR) and this Toyota Corolla Altis Grande MT(2,149,000 PKR). As both car makers have a longstanding reputation for delivering reliable and fuel-effcient family sedans. But finally i opted for this particular variant as it offers the best value for money and for the following reasons:

1.8 Altis Grande comes with the standard features like: Bucket Leather Seats (Softex Material), 8" Android based LCD with Navigation and Rear View Camera and Reclining back seats. Moreover, this relatively new Engine 2 ZR-FE is more responsive and fuel efficient as it comes equipped with SFi (Sequential Fuel Injection) and ACIS (Acoustic Controlled Induction System).

    Members, salam

After keeping this car for a year now I am absolutely content with my decision for getting this particular variant. Now, I will give you few of the many reasons why I went for this particular car, and why I will not be getting rid of it any time soon. Insha Allah.

First of all it handles great and has a comfortable drive, the throttle response is remarkable (for its engine size), but then again you cannot drive it like a sports car and expect a good mileage.

The interior might not be as exciting as its exterior but it is quite easy to clean and is modern enough. The soft-touch material on the dashboard layer adds to its class. The air vents are also placed perfectly as they quickly defog the side windows. The cup holders are perfectly placed too. An approximately 4-inch increase in the wheelbase directly translates to more rear leg space. The headlamps are super bright especially if you have the fog-lights turned-on too.

The 1.8 liter 4 cylinder engine (2ZR-FE) rated at 140 H.p operates smoothly, with a reassuring and a linear feel during light and heavy acceleration. On a good day, this engine with a maximum torque of 173 N.m and paired with 6-speed manual transmission keeps me (an adrenaline junkie), in competition those pesky Honda Civics equipped with mufflers, the size of a spaceship. On the braking front, these integrated technologies like antilock braking system (ABS), electronic brake-force distribution (EBD) and brake assist (BA) work flawlessly.

Now coming to the things I have to complain about would be the poor paint quality and the low-quality plastic pieces, unfortunately IMC went cheap on both of these things.

You shouldn't really need to top it up in a brand new car.

i just took delivery of Elantra, and they informed at that time to use car without AC till 500km mark and less than 100kmph, is it really necessary or just said, man, its really hot and dusty in Jazan and driving in daytime is really impossible
I got my Yaris 2014 in Yanbu and the toyota guy only told me to use 95 fuel ( high octance ) for better engine performance , and nothing else. I used AC from day one . Nothing happened.

@wrangler: you should stop spoiling his thread. He is trying to share his happiness with us while you come up fighting him for not buying Honda Civic. Every human has his own taste. Trust me; I have always been a Honda user. But this time I have churned to Toyota Corolla Altis Grande. Reason is very simple: Suspension.

I went to Jhang last month with my Honda Civic VTI Oriel Prosematic (2014) and had to face some rough road as you know, even good roads in Pakistan are torn in the name of new projects to eat money by our crook politicians. When I came back to Islamabad, I could hear many different noises coming from my dashboard and back shock absorbers. That pissed me off. I drove the car carefully at 10-20km/h in bad road condition to save my car, while other Corollas where flying on that roads. I would see corollas driving at 80-100km/h at that road. That impressed me.

Whether you like it or not, technology isn?t always the priority. Durability matters a lot. Especially in a country like Pakistan. By the way, does Honda civic have paddle shift? Corolla also lacks climate control. So please stop of the Honda/Toyota war. These are two different brothers with their own two different personalities.

Brothers,I want to ask why do engine mounts(foundations) break. This is not related to this topic but as I am pllaniing to buy an altis 1.8 but cant go for the choice of AT OR MT and the mounts of mt CAR ARE MORE likely to break as engine is revved again again which pushes engine again and again. As the foundations of my current caR HAVE BROKEN TWO TIMES,I thought to ask the question and try to change my driving style if it affects the foundation health.

Nothing will happen to engine mounts until and unless you bang the car really hard.
