Default '08 Toyota Corolla AXIO NZE 144, Possible Transmission Problem...

Problem-Loud knocking noise on acceleration and deceleration(when car is in 'P' or 'N' no noise is heard). Was told its the belt in the transmission. If this is the problem, can it be fixed? Was also told i may need to buy a transmission. Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

This may sound stupid but i suppose CV Joints can be culprit. When you put car in gear engine changes its angle slightly which may cause CV to make noise but this is my idea may be wrong @SER_GTR is this even possible?

Have you checked / changed the oil in the transmission and the transfer case if its 4wd? Has the car ever been driven on Cng? Cng and Cvt transmissions dont go well together.
