Default My review of GLI 2014

Tested the car on highway for 450 kms.
-Exterior is just amazing. Most beautiful PKDM car.
-Interior quality is amazing so are the plastics used. Better than those of civic. Interior is classy.
-pick is same as the older version.
-drive is smooth and has a really good road grip. Though I found suspension to be better in older models may be cause I hate eurostars.
-I love the steering wheel, really good grip. Better seating position than civic.
-Best part is the breaking system. I just loved it. ABS seemed it worked really well on the highway.
    - no central locking device, only motors were installed. What a major turn off when you buy a car worth 1850k.
-Sound system is really good, better than what I expected.
    - this car probably has the best AC system among all the PKDMs. Have to turn it off again and again. Civic or city are nowhere near.
    - highway mileage 11-12kmpl with AC
-city mileage 6-7 kmpl with AC

    Congrats for your new car!
6-7 km/L in city is way too less I think..

Thanks brother. I know it's too less. Engine is new, would take time to be efficient.

I don't agree with many points you just mentioned !
I am using both current civic and current Gli
How can you say it has a better driving position than civic lol
    that's just funny

Corolla beats civic in exterior styling and Civic beats corolla in interior styling , comfort , features and driving pleasure !

    No offence
But Abs worked really well on highway :O
How did you manage to try that on HIGHWAY
you have to apply full brakes to check that :/

There's something called opinion. Yes, I also drive my cousin's civic quite often it's powerful but again driving position is better in corolla. I am not even a fan of corolla, but I really liked the driving position of this model.

And yes, I drove the car 450 kms to interior Sindh and I had to apply it once. Road condition was really bad as roads are under construction on most of the route.

Corolla's interior is classy and vintage whereas Civic's interior is sporty and futuristic. Both are differently designed. Plus u would also agree that corolla's quality of interior is superior than that of civic.

City is in interior sindh and that's why u can't take the car above 20-30kmph. In Khi it would give 11-12 easily

" - this car probably has the best AC system among all the PKDMs. Have to turn it off again and again. Civic or city are nowhere near. "

Ahh---- Civic Oriel has Climate Control- Set desired temperature- drive in ease, with peace.

    "
-city mileage 6-7 kmpl with AC "

A little fun fact- Reborn owners claim their Reborns' to give Minimum. 8km/l.
Turbo lag is like foreplay. You know it's coming. And it's gonna be good.

Lol bro, even my Mira has climate control. I know indus lacks this. But yes, AC in this model is best among all PKDMs

Bro, little fact : ask reborn owners who drive their cars in interior sindh. And if it gives 8kmpl in Khi, then it's really bad.

Civic has better, infact much better driving position when compared to the new Corolla.
I just don't understand that how this Corolla GLI with additional weight can have a good pick when the older one had bad pick?

    Time for some questions!
    1) Why did you test ABS on a highway when It's proper use Is meant In cities?
    2) Why is it giving such a low economy in Cities? When (If I remember correctly) my friends new reborn gave him 8-9 KM in city.
    3) I agree that the front of this Corolla is amazing but I disagree with the back, It's too bulky! It doens't go well with the front.
    4) You did said that "probably" It's AC is better then PKDM's, but I disagree City has a lil better AC.

Still better than the GLi being reviewed.

    1300cc vs 1800cc.

And- that figure was for Prosmatec ones.

Car is still new hardly 550kms on it. From what I know engine gets efficient after sometime. Not really sure. But yes, if it doesn't get better, mileage is really bad for this car.

Firstly, I got in trouble due to traffic coming from front as there are no double roads after you cross Hyderabad. So, I applied breaks when I got in trouble.
Secondly, THE CAR IS IN INTERIOR SINDH. Not in Karachi or some other city, you hardly get to pass 20-30kmph in the city so, that's why the mileage is low plus that's with the AC and no hypermiling, just normal conditions.
I personally find the back of the car so hot lol . But again, it depends on the person, some like it some don't.
Yes, the AC is better than any PKDM car. Try it yourself. Sit in the car for some time in a really hot temperature and you will see which one has a better AC. I live in one of the hottest areas of Pakistan, so most of the cars fail to cool in hot temperatures. Though the weather is fine these days.

Please allow me to chip in my two cents here. I have not driven and neither do I own one or both (the new civic or corolla). But just to clear the air a little, a friend of mine who was responsible for the road testing of the new corolla was outrightly skeptical of its fuel efficiency. He was also apprehensive of the car's power to weight ratio. But, since he has a job at Toyota Indus, could only convey his observations. What became of those is not known. Despite that, the Corolla will still remain a best seller. It is versatile, reliable and plenty capable as per us Pakistani standards. Our standards include keeping mum on issues like lack of immobiliser, innovation and even small things which have become standard the world over but deemed luxury here. The new Corolla seemingly looks better than the current Civic. That's because it looks different. I like both cars. Both get the job done. Both have good ACs. Both are mainstream vehicles of our roads. Neither is anything to write home about. Just boils down to personal preferences.

Dear Faisal, don't worry about the average. Let the engine settle in with the rest of humongous body for about 3000 KMs. But do remember, it's average should be at least at par with the previous generation of Corolla if not better. Drive safe and feel proud to be a Corolla owner. I like it too.
