Default My experience with Indus motors while purchasing new Corolla XLi 2014(Attitude Black)

    Hi,
I feel proud to introduce my brand new Toyota corolla Xli 2014 edition to pakwheelers. This is my maiden thread on pakwheels as I have an urge to share my experience of buying a new car with you all. It might benefit readers who are probably thinking about buying a new car (especially those who are looking for a car in 1300cc category).

Alhamdollilah, I booked toyota corolla at Toyota GT motors, Islamabad on 7th September. On 20th September, they will deliver my car, as it has already left Karachi on Monday. Will update more about the car in coming days.

Few points to remember before booking: you need to have a valid NTN if you wish to pay lesser WHT. FBR site shows a list of active taxpayers where one can look for his/her NTN.

Every dealer gives u a slightly different delivery date so choose wisely after visiting all of them near to your home.

In my case, people were asking me to pay extra money (1.5 lacs) and get the car in 1 day but I booked it and in less than 15 days, my car is being delivered.

I wish everyone a happy day!

    Ciao!

Reading your comments, one can see that you are novice in automobiles.
You should have made this thread before booking, to get a proper info on different 1300 cc variants.

    - As per your knowledge this new Corolla weighs less than the previous model. You should have done some research before making a decision as this new Corolla has a 4 inch bigger wheel base then the previous model and it weighs 100+ kg more. This has been discussed in Corolla thread many times. A member @rizwan400 gave us the initial details, all of them were found to be true afterwards.

    - You think that the earlier 2NZ-FE was not tuned properly that is why it was generating 82 bhp and now this time IMC has tuned it properly and it has jumped to 100 bhp.

    - You consider Xli, pure luxury saloon (even my hands are trembling writing it) with manual door handles, substandard brakes, no central locking, and an underpowered engine.

    - As per your point of view, the worst point for City is "Lack of mats". The carpet mats used to come with City and if they are not coming now, you can get them for 1000 - 1500 Rs. (Not 17000 Rs just for mats)

    - You inspected a lot of Citys at Honda Classic but couldn't note that it DOES have central locking.

    - You consider "4 wheel disc brakes" of Xli better than ABS brakes of City.

    - City and Swift both have branded alpine players with USB option.

You see, the whole post is not to discourage you, but to tell you that a little homework is always good before making such a decision.
If you really liked new Corolla, you should have gone for Gli which is just 127K expensive.
You would already reach that amount when you try to convert it to Gli, but with substandard parts.
Like you mentioned that you will install ABS in it afterwards.

I know that Gli also has the same engine but that is something you can live with, as it depends on your preference and requirements but such a car without ABS brakes is a big no. And a car with after-market ABS, hell no.
Never compromise on safety. Pakistan is the only country in which this new Corolla is offered without ABS.
That is what I wanted to say. He should have gone for GLI atleast.
It has all those goodies. XLI isn't the competitor of City, GLI is!

First of All Congratulations on your New Ride
All the above point the members have said r very true,
U have made a good choice of going for Corolla as it indeed is Pakistan's best Sedan but u should have gone for Gli as Xli lacks basic features and even though u can get all these in the market, but the quality and finish won't be as good as Factory Fitted.
You r correct that Swift and City has a stiff suspension and City has uncomfortable seats but when it comes to handling City and Swift takes the lead, i just love the way city handles on curves and the grip is awesome.
City has central locking, and Swift is a fully loaded and perhaps Pakistan's best Hatch Back
Toyota is best for family and Honda is best for teens
In the end if u r happy with ur decision that is the best thing and peoples review doesn't matter.
The most important thing to do is to get the Car insured before getting it out from the showroom as i hope u would be knowing that The Pakistan's Best Sedan is also Pakistans Best stolen Sedan too

Bhaiyo... congratulate karo yaar usay... Aap log depressor maar the ho WO pareshan ho jaye ga k shayd usne koi boht bara zulam kr dia hai....

Tell him about the pros and cons of his new car and compare it properly to other choices in the price range.

He is not to be held responsible for buying a corolla Xli. Toyota Indus is the major culprit who is assembling such a substandard vehicle with ZERO safety ratings.

Why do you all possibly think they manage to sell Xli corollas...?

Yes, exactly. People like our honorable new fellow member have very little knowledge about the importance of such things.

The concept of factory power windows might not seem too flashy for him.

Educate him in a polite way instead of bashing him as if he is a fanatic.

Good suggestion, actually I went to book GLi but delivery time was three months so I had to choose XLi. May be if I experience any major issues with XLI, I would replace it with GLi. But to be honest, majority of local cars have got no abs brakes in Pakistan so it's not as such very big issue. If u know how to drive, and keep a safe distance from vehicle in front of u, there can hardly be a time when u have to rely on abs. I have lancer JDM 2007 and in past 16 months of daily driving, I heard abs playing it's part four to five times.

Lol ... Floor mats is a necessity as every time you step in your car, your shoes will bring dust to car carpet, where as none of JDM cars have mud flaps cuz if u don't drive in muddy terrain, no point having them. Moreover, high speed bumps here in Pakistan often break down front wheel mud flaps.

    hello kind sir,

congratulation on booking your new car, make sure you update us with the pics.

you shoce black colour, is there any way you would want to reconsider.

i own a black 1.5 honda city aspire prosmatec. maintaining and keeping a black car is a major major pain in the butt.
we dont have any seperate drivers in our family just to clean the car every morning. plus white or silver corolla would have had more road presence than black. bearing in mind that silver and white colours sell off easily too.

i am a honda owner, and i respect your decision as corolla has the most top notch comfortable level even if you compare it with civic.
honda city is not comfortable at all. i live in f-11 and travel to blue area every morning and bumps in islamabad are major spine rattling in city. whereas whenever i am in a corolla, the same bumps are smooth as silk.

cograts again, reconsider your colour choice while you still have time on your hands.

    Aoa.

Dark colors look great when clean.

I have an Altis in gun metallic, the car looks stunning when I leave my home. By midday there is a layer of dust on it.

Black is Black, hope you have the courage to maintain.

So ABS brakes are only for beginners. When one moves to highly expert level of yours, one does not need ABS+EBD+BA.
Ever wonder why our local car assemblers are looting us with featureless cars? This ignorance.
And if ABS is engaged 4 to 5 times in 16 months, this is nothing?
Even if it saves life of passengers once in the whole lifetime of vehicle, it is everything.
And in the end, instead of thanking all the members for giving their valuable time to this thread, mentioning facts for your own safety, you said all the comments are coming from people having bikes and small cars.
Yes, your majesty is the only one driving a "pure luxury saloon" car.
You will never cease to amuse us from your knowledge. Will you?

If you plan to sell your car (corolla 2014) after reading the above comments please dont contact me because I am also a Honda Lover ... Just kidding... Congrats on the new car...BTW if resale is ur priority then you should have waited for another 3 months because on 1st January 2015 your car will be considered a year old and will give you loss for sure.

    Congrats brother
You will definitely love the drive
May ALLAH BLESS you more ..

I recently upgraded to new corolla , was using standard swift before which lacks abs brakes too
One should look at the needs , routes etc before buying a car
It was used for daily routine drive , getting grocery and going to school and back to home , and not for once my father applied full brakes as he drive really carefully so in his case abs was not a must ! He went for dx instead of dlx obviously everyone has his limits and budget just like your case
I am sure you must've had considered everything before taking this decision
    Drive safe
And enjoy your new ride !

Nobody can win this race. Nobody. There will be 2016 after 2015 and so on. I believe whether sawan or for that matter anybody who needs/wants this car and is convinced, he should buy and enjoy the ride. Life is too short for these 2014/15/16/17........ Things. We don't know if we will be able to read or write the next post. So dear OP, enjoy. It's your life, your decision and your car.

Approval shouldn't be needed or wanted for a decision you have made for whatever the reasons & criteria you've chosen. Just buy it, drive it and eventually sell it and buy something else. These are consumables not blue chip stocks, stop worrying about resale,... it'll be useless when you're heading off a cliff or into a wall at speed.

    drive safe and enjoy.

Never argue with an idiot, they will bring you down to their level & beat you with experience, 5. Growing old beats the alternative -- dying young! 6. انّا للہ و انّا الیہ راجعون

    3) When paying 1.7M you should get all the goodies, why spend additional 0.2M? City takes the lead in this regard.
    4) You call a car with "handle walay sheshay", no abs, no power mirrors a pure luxury saloon? Even Swift is better.
    5) Honda City and Swift offer much better drive, sporty drive, grip on good roads. Though Toyota is better on rough one's.
    6) I agree that Toyota has better repute of being durable and softness.
    7) Toyota's metallic colours shouldn't be called metallic, they don't have that feel in them, Honda is better in metallic.
    8) What's the use of 4 wheel disk when you don't the friggin ABS? Honda has much much better brakes.
    9) Swift has a "branded" alpine system which has both the things mentioned.
    10) As said by Omer. Roll's Royce has low sales, that means Toyota is better then It?
    4)
One more thing I would like to add that if u want to get abs in ur car aftermarket. u would have to change ur cv joints in front and their equivalent in the rear too cause the groves that the sensor reads from are not.present on non abs cars
