    Default 2014 Corolla 1.3 GLi AT - aliusman420

So Alhamdulillah finally our brand new Corolla 1.3 GLi AT arrived today. Kindly do say Masha Allah
We needed a family car and this new gorgeous Corolla recently launched which everyone fell in love with so we decided to go for it. As it would have been a general family use car we decided upon 1.3 GLi, initially we were planning to go for the manual one as had doubts about the automatic one, but after reading what our fellow @InNoCeNt_DeViL stated in his review of the test drive he took of GLi AT, our decision changed and we booked the automatic one. Due to the unstable security situation in Islamabad test drives are not being given.
Date of booking on PBO was 19th August and car was delivered to us on 1st October.
So far loving every bit of it, Alhamdulillah money well spent.
It has put the critics to rethink their statement of the car being under-powered, Masha Allah the throttle response is very good.
Currently the car is a Night Rider it is mainly being used in the second half of the day.
    So here go the reviews:
    1. Quick review from dealership to home Page 1 Post #3.

    2. Short review Page 4 Post #65.
    3. Daylight pics Page 4 Post #64.

Offtopic : do you study at nust nbs? I saw a red prius parked there couple of times.
When I looked up "Ninjas" in Thesaurus.com, it said "Ninja's can't be found" Well played Ninjas, well played.

the car is parked and not used since more than a week, however the average is between 10-11.5 km/l, car idles a lot when used so this figure can improve it driven properly. Drive experience as I have already mentioned in previous posts in the thread can be compared to Japanese cars, in Urdu you can say "malaai hai chalanay mein"

Guys need suggestions on changing the tires.
Islamabad members kindly suggest the best shops as well.
I want original and legally imported tires, not smuggled ones.
Will stick to the 15" size as this is a family car, may change the rims to Altis alloys some months later, tight on budget currently.
The brands I have in mind are Yokohama and Dunlop. My Prius has Pirelli tires which came with the car from Japan but they might be very expensive here, need info on this.
Kindly share the prices too and how much can the stock EuroStar ones can go in exchange? They are driven 478 km till now only.

    1. Yokohama Advan Db v551 .. best in its class ..comfort wise

    2. Michellin XM2

    3. Continental Contact 5 ( CC5 ) .. expensive then yoko and michellin

All of them are best ones but be sure to get a genuine tyre from an authentic dealer .. smuggled tyres and their accidents are horrific ( God forbid )

Let me put it this way.
For younger age people Swift is the car to buy, it's fast, looks good and has options of several add-ons.
For family purpose, Corolla is the car, very spacious, reasonably powerful, doesn't scrape on speedbumps

    Got first service done today.
Mileage on odo was 480 km but 45 days have passed since bought the car.
They just lifted it on the crane or whatever and tightened some nuts from below. Also they checked the lights and wipers and added soapy water in the wiper washer bottle.
There were two issues with the car since day 1. The steering had to be kept to a little left so that the car would go straight, around an inch or two, and brakes were a little left-biased, specially at speed.
Got the steering adjusted first, took the car for a test drive with a technician and after a few mins a "ghurum" sort of sound came from below and something dropped on road. I and the technician freaked out for a second, he went back and found out that it was a rubber support, brick-shaped, of the crane the car was lifted on when getting inspected.
Anyway we came back and now it was time to resolve the brakes issue. They lifted the car on the crane, took all wheels off, did some adjustments in the front brakes and rotated the wheels and fixed everything. Again I took a test drive and everything seemed to be in order.
When I asked about the slightly misaligned tail light, at first their representative was denying any such thing and after a good five minutes he agreed to what I was saying. But then he said that the light mighy get damaged while adjusting so leave it as it is. The misalignment is very minor but for a person like me too much of a big deal.
So till now I am using this car today since it has not been used since two weeks, fuel average withing showing in 10-11 km/l range with some stops and partial highway driving. Latest odo reading around 530 km.

One thing I would like to ask everyone. Toyota uses 20w50 oil, the guy over there said that if I use any other oil it will void the warranty. I was planning to keep this car company maintained but after looking at the oil grade they are using I am changing my mind as I always use 5w30 in Lancer as well as Prius, I used 20w50 in the 98 Corolla we had and it was 1.3 carby engine.

Isn't 20w50 meant to be used for older engines? Why would imc use it in zero meter cars?
