carefully i can say engine is done, need rebuilt, - high fuel consumption, engine consuming oil & no engine maintenance work done since purchase.

Your next question may be Why recommending overhaul?? why not swap?

The car is with you for over 180000 km, say approx 5+ years or so, you know it inside out

engine rebuilding using maximum genuine parts with near finesse machining of the head & block, will revitalise the engine.

Without changing engine number over the regn book and with carefully logged engine maintenance The car will survive another 200,000 km without any trouble.

goto toyota 3S shop and ask for approx estimate of overhaul with parts detail in writing. add up approx - 25%, because unless the engine is removed from vehicle & opened up complete detail of required parts & machining charges cannot be ascertained.

remember - Head Bolts shall be NEW when re-assembling head over block

if that include machining, labour, parts & lubes seems quiet reasonable quote. I'd say please cross check price of parts in open market as well

share the estimated prices submitted by toyota over the forum

-- ur car requires complete engine overhaul .. kabli is not recommended unless u r dead sure it is not rusted from inside and never opened
-- find a good engine mechanic in Multan .. key is to ask rent-a-car people, dealers or taxi drivers --- get engine opened in front of you .. takes a few hrs but worth the experience now get the list of required items again ask a few mechamics for the best shop to purchase spares .. show each item to the mechanic and do not compromise on low quality item .. one substandard item can bring all effort to zero ... machining should be quality .. in case u need references in multan let me know .. i can guide u but cannot guarantee since i've been away from that place for about 10 yrs .. my expectation is around 60-70k total exp including labour, oil change etc

@capsat . My altis 2005 with mileage of 200,000 km. Sucks engine oil about 4litre after 3500-4000 km. But it's fuel consumption is very good does 700 km in full tank till reserve light intimation. Means 15.5-16.5km/lit while CNG give 180 km in 60 liter cylinder. In local cng 100-110 while patrol 9-10 km per litre. As per your advice will get its compression test in couple of days will share its result. Plz comment about fuel consumption.

sure please share the compression test results.

4 litres of oil for 4000 km, is it like NO oil at oil change ?? or net 4 litres topped up before Fresh oil change??

700 km per Rs. 4200 I'd say not a bad deal. means ... 2200 for oil & approx Rs. 25000 worth of liquid fuel Rs. 27200 per 4000 km approx Rs. 6 per km keep oil level maintained & keep using, it can out run 250000 mark before fuel economy deteriorate and sign of oil appear in tail pipe.

@capsat thanks. It reduces particularly on long drives. I used to Top up the oil. I used to drive on low rpm. I was planning to rebuild the engine to avoid further deterioration. Pick no issue on cng it goes upto 140 +. You mean I should still use it with care of oil level. Yes one thing I must share that in morning start it blows water with black particles.

i have a very bitter experience with the engine of this altis, better sell the car or swap the engine, whatever 3s dealer says leave them. This engine is having hydraulic tappets, you have to change the both cams even for smooth running sound, plus the silver block is not suggested to be overhauled.

I also ended up in selling the vehicle way less than the market, some 3s dealer says its faulty crank, some says cam problem. some said pistons pins are loose.

I got it checked by toyota airport, walton, cantt.

I was like what the **** they are doing they all differ in dere statements.

Its better to swap, if not then sell it

Swapping is the only option, a big no for overhaul
