If I insert another bottle at this point, the cycle repeats.

Which could be possible cause? Have visited 3-4 mechanics and replaced two pipes. Still not fixed

ideally - you put in some fluorescent dye and use a black light to find the leak, oldschool way is to clean the area like a hospital OR, then start engine - turn side to side for 5 minutes, shut off and then check for leaks with clean tissue papers - anything that even shows a hint of clean oil is your leak.

also note that you need to bleed the system of air - air in hydraulic system = bad news. to bleed the unit raise car and turn steering side to side 20 or 30 times with engine off - air bubbles should rise to the reservoir.

Sir, Here is the its picture of Kangi.

Kharadiya said there are Four Oil Seals in this Kangi. Each seal cost is Rs. 550 min. So it will cost Rs. 2200
And their own labour to have it change is Rs. 1200/-
    Total: Rs. 3400

Whereas I can buy a new Kangi from Bilal Ganj at Rs. 5000
So I decided to buy the new one and kept the old one with me.

If you can see the Shining Cylinder at the right side near the boot, then there was really a minor scratch over it. It could hardly be felt by scrolling finger tip on it. He said if I replace the new seals, then it will leak again in 2/3 months time.

In Hydraulic .....Even That Slightest Of Scratch Can Make Seal Bad Again And Again....A Proper Steering Rack Repair Needed In That Case....!

So Getting Another One And COunting On It Is Better Than Doing All The Repair And Praying It Works Whereas Chances Are 50/50

    @argus @1707 @SER_GTR @IsbCap

    dear sirs

Yesterday I went to Mintgomery road (Lahore) to purchase something for my car.
Well, I got to know that there are many mechanics/engineers there who repair the Steering Racks (Kangi, the same part as I posted the picture earlier in this thread). They replace the seals, polish the hydraulic, fix it again. And once repair it works good at-least for 3~5 years.

I thought it maybe informative for many other members who have problems related to Kangi (Steering Rack).

Sir, in the last 3 months, I 've repaired 3-times the steering rack of my car (called Kanggi).
But all the mechanics who repaired it are Son of ..............., Mother.........., Pan....., .......... kay bachy.

I've learned that through the repairing this steering rack is not very sky rocketing technique, but not all the mechanics can do it. It need some precisions which no one take care.

I bought its Seals (7 or 8 rubber rings of different sizes) and only these fuc...... seals cost me Rs. 1700. While I paid Rs. 1500 for its repair each time and Rs. 1000 its fixing mechanic fee.
And according to mechanics, if seals are fixed once and get some leak again, then all the old seals are considered as Garbage and all those seals have to be replaced with new ones.
I really wanted to hit hard these stupid moth...f...rs mechanics who take their fee but don't do the job with precision & accuracy.

i have a slow leak on my 2006 altis since a year now, power steering seal was leaking, toyota 3S said to replace the pump. The pipes and bottle is fine, i didn't bother as even in one year i only put in 20ml of power steering fluid, it drips to the ground 1-2 drip in a week and doesnt drip in summers or after a long drive theres no leaking at all, but bubbles do come in the power steering reservoir. theres no noise form the pump.

this year toyota 3S said as level is not reducing and no noise form pump and steering is soft and linear dont bother and bubbles can be ignored. bubbles are probably their because of a leak somethwhere and air getting in. any harm in driving with bubbles in the reservoir as engine is running, provided steering pump at the time seems to be totally fine apart form the leakage of course.
If everything is coming your way, you're in the wrong lane!

repairing a steering rack and installing new seals requires 2 major parts.

    1 - proper tooling
2 - proper mental health and knowledge. (no naswaar, paan, lack of sleep)

the shiny thingie you see in the picture is the rack itself, if its scratched up then Im pretty sure the bulkhead in the housing is bad too, With a proper equipped shop they can redo the rack and bulkhead to take up the slack and then would need undersized seals to complete the job.

The pinion valve body requires hydraulic assembly lube which is similar to the item used when rebuilding automatic gearboxes. Grease of any kind should never even be close to the assembly bench.

Whenever you install a rebuilt rack it is a mandatory requirement to blow out the reservoir container inlet screen, to do this you need unmount it and blow ATF with assistance of air pressure backwards, you might need to use a solvent (but be sure to rinse the item with clean ATF/PSF/hydraulic oil) to make sure there is no solvent content in there anymore.

The screen traps thick sediment that can destroy the pump vanes and also damage the rack itself.

here in USA - power steering line filters are sold that are installed somewhere in the return line to trap any debris, they are fully serviceable too. Some rebuilders will not give a warranty of their rebuilt rack or pump if you do not use an external filter.

Sir you are really great man.
First time when I had it repaired, then I stand alongwith the repair mechanic for more than 2 hours. I saw him undoing (un-assembling) and then fixing it back after putting seals. Ofcoarse I am not technical but I saw it to get info. This rack takes totally 7 seals (the small rubber rings).
This is the name card of this great bad guy. I really want to make him bald headed by hitting shoes on his head.

He min. used 150~200 gram Greece when re-fixing it. And Greece which he was using said it?s the best for steering racks & joints. And that Greece was just looking a perfect example of dense dirt.

Well I have recently have it done again from another mechanic who seems to be having good repute. Lets see how many days or weeks the steering rack goes well.

Thank you once again sir for giving your precious time here at PW to guide others. Thank you v. much

aslam alikum Zulfiqar bhai. There is wining noise when i turn the wheel to lock left and lock right. its like wieeeeeeeeeeeeeennnn type of sound. also it happens that when the car is on its idle state, and i turn the steering the car accelerates like the rpm grows(standing idle). there is no leak from the pump uptill now Allhumdillah. but these two issues is making me think that i should go for a pump change. That is my main concern.

Yesterday a new issue was observed so i took the matter into my own hands. There was a feeling that the water is not circulating in the radiator. so i drained the water from the knob below. but the below pipe from radiator going into the engine is rusted. like on the metal pipe on which the rubber pipe is connected. Anyhow i took out the radiator serviced and put it back. also for the leaking i saw that there was a loose pipe end from the reserviour.

There could be some blockage in system, get the hydraulic system flushed prior replacing the pump.
