Exclamation Toyota Corolla 2.0D Saloon Engine Swap (Please recommend a good engine) (Urgent)

    Salam To All,
As the title says I have Toyota corolla 2.0D Saloon 03 Model. After almost 12 years, the engine is to its end of the days. Therefore, I want to change its engine, Petrol engine with Auto Transmission. Guys please recommend a GOOD ENGINE, By Good Engine I mean an engine that gives performance and also is fuel efficient. My mechanic recommended a Toyota X 1.5 Engine saying its japanese assembled and is good and all, some say go for XLI 1.3 engine but as Ive heard its local I dont wanna go for it, maybe its not local, I dont know a thing about engines and stuff. Also you guys would recommend to sell the car and buy a petrol car instead, This car has been with the family for so long now and my father wont let go of it so Yes selling it is out of option. So guys, I have the money ready, I need EXPERT OPINION, Which engine will be perfect for it, with no issues, and yes auto transmission is a must. Please guys give your opinions, much appreciated, I dont want to waste my money.
P.S A crazy friend is saying install a Turbo engine 3S something, please prove him wrong. ( I honestly do not care about mileage, my usage of car is very less )

How much has your current engine been Driven? Just Curious; an uncle ov mine has a simple 2D 2002 that has covered over 400000 km with the engine overhauled twice While on the Other Hand sk-kingpin told me his has covered the Same WITHOUT any hauling.

Brother I recommend a overhaul hardly a 35,000 job with genuine parts. 240,000 not a big deal for diesel of Toyota 2C.

Engine swap will reduce car value and is costly too.

2NZ FE 1.3L engine came in both local xli GLi and still comes in 2015 Corolla so easiest to maintain. It also comes in JDM X Assista Corolla bolt on swap no major modifications required and cheapest to buy with auto approx 50k. Less weight on front so best balanced car. 2 variants vvti & non vvti. Lowdown is that since u r driving 2.0L diesel M/T u feel short of torque with this one.

    2nd comes 1.4L 4ZZ-FE & 1ND-TV D4D Diesel both very rear & expensive don't go for them.

3rd comes 1.5L 1NZ-FE as suggested by fellow PW member very good engine came in imported G Corolla and Axio.

4th comes 1.6L 3ZZ-FE both local & imported available came in Se Saloon & US Models

5th is 1.8L 1ZZ-FE which came in local Altis from 2005 to 2011.

Most expensive are 1ZR-FE & 2ZR-FE which are in current Altis.

My suggestion go for 1ZR-FE if u can afford it's best may cost u around 150k with transmission in exchange of ur diesel or settle for any of the ZZ series engines with good condition & compression.

Last option should be 1NZ-FE. However it's good for 90% of the tasks u throw at it and is economical and cheap too.

Haven't asked for 1ZR price, but the guy is asking 70k for 1NZFE from Bilal Gunj, including everything except Labour. Like Total Samaan. And 40k With exchange of Diesel Engine.

Bro I think u should go for the exchange program instead of making generator.

Generator from a weak engine is no good that too of diesel.

Excellent engine but here in Shershah kabar they are asking close to 200k for that engine only.
Local Xli engine mounts, brakes and M/T gearbox cannot cope the power so they all have to be upgraded.

2ZZ-GE is fantastic - incredibly revvy.

It remains fantastic in Pakistan if the owner of the engine can repair it correctly, it becomes a dead mule if an ustaad does some repairs on the valve train as they mess up the cam slippers for high lift (usually in a 'tappet job at lathe shop') -

after that job the engine starts, revolves and gets from A to B but without that classic fury its famous for.
