Default How to improve 11th generation Corolla Pathetic Lighting.

Assalam - o -alikum to all fellows. I hope everyone is fine and enjoying life with good health.

I have been driving New corolla for the past 4 months and i personally feel that its headlights are pathetic for night driving specially on highways in south punjab and sindh. Can anyone please guide how can i improve lights for good visibility at night without voiding warranty and without putting extra load on original wiring and headlight glass. Thanks

I hope this thread would help alot of new corolla owners.

    Thanks.

Bro you got the right thing. Thats OEM Denso second generation D2S/D2R HID ballasts. Also knows as Fat densos. They are very heavy and large in size though. I had many of these sets before but now i have third gen Slim denso OEM ballasts. And what bulbs you got with it? D2R? Also let me know for how much you got them the ballasts and bulbs.?
And i guess you got the H11 universal fog projectors and rebased the D2R bulbs to fit in these projectors. But i doubt on the output of those projectors. They are not OEM

your are exactly right. On close inspection of projectors, i read 9006 behind them which means they are halogen projectors not d2s ones. probably i will pay a visit today to get d2s projectors. can i find d2s projectors sealed (weather proof) like the halogen projectors (pic posted below):.....

Yes bro you can get D2S HID projectors. I have TSX D2S HID Projectors for sale if you need let me know they are well covered like the ones you have now. and bro those projectors will not work and their beam will scatter because they are halogen projectors.
About the ballasts the second gen densos are installed outside of the headlight(attached beneath)originally so you dont have to worry about waterproofing etc. just put some silicone on the output wires. Thanks

Going to be getting my 2015 corolla next month - after reading this thread, can someone post a pic of the Philips bulbs that I can replace with the factory ones - want a whiter light rather than the warm amber standard glow, both for headlights n fogs - thanks.

I have retrofitted setup in my new corolla fogs and as of now result is appealingly poor. Light intensity on road has doomed. My setup consists Denso Gen 1 ballasts, Orsam D2s bulbs and CL9 projectors (not cloudy at all). I got the setup retrofitted from Toyota Royal RYK. They got some Taiwanese fog lights from scrap cut them off so that they can use glass portion of fog lamps and put the lens inside those cut fogs.

I am attaching the results of setup below. I have worked out following possible causes of low intensity light:

    1) Projectors are fitted upside down so all light is above cutoff line not below.
    2) projectors are tilted towards sides so they are illuminating trees on left and right not the road.
    3) Projectors are fitted way inside bumper
    4) Cut glass fitted on projectors is blocking a bit of light.

Please help me diagnose what has gone gone wrong and how can i use them as headlight replacement.

Ibad bro few more pictures are attached below for your kind input.

Bro first of all mount the projectors back on it original position so the cutoff faces upward.. similarly allign them at straight position rather on the sides... and last but not least check driver side HID its way too dim.....can be because of upside down or can be showing signs of a ending life bulb or ballast....or bulb is not properly seated in the projector....you can see the color difference aswell in both.... In the end i would say that you will have to re do everything....disassemble the projectors and retrofit them again correctly....if you want i can do it for you if you could TCS the projectors/fogs to me...

as far as i remember pin that hold bulb in place in the projector was lose for one projector and while connecting bulb with ballast bulb rotated in projector. Dont know this same happened or not when he finally connected and closed the bumper. Let me check projector for that issue.

Assalamoalikum to all. As i have postponed decision to sale my GLi AT due to rumors of civic launch next year, i am going to fit Cl9 projectors back in place of fog lights. Earlier, when i fitted hids in car i faced issue of melting fuse (30 Ampere). though fuse was of Rs.30 /dozen type quality. i am attaching pitures of wiring harness DIY by me. kindly point out the weak links in the harness so that i can upgrade it to the required spec.

These thin wires may be of relay grip itself. Melting of fuse may be because of not proper grounding resulting strain on wires. I would advice you to make separate ground wires for each ballast rather than one.
