Default 11th Gen Corolla (Hornet): An Unlucky Affair

Introducing Corolla GLi 1.3 (Super ECT)
Asalamoalikum respected PakWheel members and guests.
Alhamdolillah, Allah has blessed me with this brand new car after I let
Viper go to its next handler and keeper, after a very satisfying experience of a little over four years. With blessing from Allah (S.W) and friends like you, I hope to make this is a no-nonsense, extremely informative and enjoyable thread just like Viper. This cannot be possible without your support, appreciation, critique, guidance, sharing and participation. So hop in, like and subscribe.

But, the driving experience has not been anything more than average. The only aspect in which this car stands out (at the moment in Pakistan) is its shape.

Default 11th Gen Corolla (Hornet): An Unlucky Affair

For some reason Toyota is world's n.o 1 car manufacturer and Corolla has sold 40+ million units.
Yaha ki baat hi nahi ker raha because idher koi competition naam ki cheez hi nahi. Toyota outside is far more superior then what they are here due to IMC. I know because I had JDM Corolla Fielder which zillion times ahead then it's sibling PKDM 10th gen corolla, they shared the same e140 series platform but man fielder was just BOSS!!!
Sir konsee gari mein Honda ne old parts use kiye hayn? Talking about engine and suspension seats etc. With launch of every new generation, honda has given a new and improved engine and suspension setup.
I'm not defending Honda but can you name any of those old parts which honda has used in newer generations?

To clear your confusion about 9th gen civic engine before hand. 9th gen civic has R18z1 engine whereas 8th gen has R18a1. There is a lot of difference between them.
This is not IMC which will give more than decade old torison beam suspension setup and 8 years old engine in a 24 lac rupee worth Grande. Forget about xli/gli.

Atlas Honda always introduced new features and specs wise up to date cars in Pakistan for its customers.

And believe me we went AJK on our 9th Gen Civic and Current City model. Only civic touched 2 or 3 times and city never touched the ground.

I am talking about toyota globally. I have described IMC already. I agree with you that they barely bring anything to the table but this time they changed the game a bit with grande.
Talking about 9th gen, I own it too Alhamdullilah . It is a good car. But it too uses old parts specially that crappy prosmatic transmission which is 10 years old and is not properly matted with newer R18. The car sometimes fails to respond when desired and is poor on fuel economy. On the other hand IMC has brought something new which is the CVT gear box, they have taken the lead from Honda in this department and seriously just this transmission makes Grande more responsive, smooth and better on fuel economy which too me matters a lot. Lastly the suspension, it is good in 9th gen but not great, it's a more on the stiffer side though it makes the steering of 9th gen really responsive but makes the car uncomfortable for longer journeys and with that it brings hell load of road noise which Honda atlas has done nothing to counter.
And bringing new stuff doesn't makes the vehicle will be always better then the competition or from its previous model ( 8th gen vs 9th gen)
Sometimes dont fix it when it ain't broke.
No car has 100% newer parts. So this doesn't applies to Toyota only.

I need a car in next 3 to 4 month so following all the post of this thread aswell. I know Altis 1.6 is better than GLI A/T but i'll keep the car for 2-3 year. Yes, Altis 1.6 is not better in resale right now. So considering GLI A/T at the moment. But who knows the future?

If you have the money, go for 1.8
    You will not regret it.
    Forget 1.3 or 1.6....both are a compromise

Get an MT 1.3 Gli then if you are concerned about resale

Alhamdulilah have driven City on every kind of roads from urban to hilly and rural areas. And didn't face such problems.

    hahahahaha

Obviously 1.6 is better than 1.3 a/t. But i''l keep the car 2-3 years so 1.6 might be heavy on the pocket in terms of resale.

Anyhow, it's not final decision. Btw I'm also considering Vitz as well because, i need a car for daily drive.

I had upgraded from a 2007 Cultus to 2010 XLi which I sold immediately after few KMs on the odometer to get an Altis in the same year. Sold it too after about 3800 Kms to get a 2011 Civic (base variant) which remained with me till few months back. Then this 11th Gen Corolla.
You guys see the pattern? It's not that I'm not satisfied each time about the purchase.

And why don't you sell it and buy a base model of Civic 9th gen? Just give a try to 9th gen Civic.

I've already did. But with 10th Gen around the corner, I can't just keep buying and selling cars. Got no business and being a salaried man would not be feasible to undertake adventures.

    Regards.
