Default 11th Gen Corolla (Hornet): An Unlucky Affair

Introducing Corolla GLi 1.3 (Super ECT)
Asalamoalikum respected PakWheel members and guests.
Alhamdolillah, Allah has blessed me with this brand new car after I let
Viper go to its next handler and keeper, after a very satisfying experience of a little over four years. With blessing from Allah (S.W) and friends like you, I hope to make this is a no-nonsense, extremely informative and enjoyable thread just like Viper. This cannot be possible without your support, appreciation, critique, guidance, sharing and participation. So hop in, like and subscribe.

But, the driving experience has not been anything more than average. The only aspect in which this car stands out (at the moment in Pakistan) is its shape.

    4. Meguiar's Ultimate Polish/Compound
    5. Meguiar's Ultimate Paste Wax
    6. Meguiar's Mirror Glaze
For a new car, using ultimate polish is fine but ultimate compound is not. UC has a strong cut and can be challenging when opting to do the whole car with the yellow applicator by hand. UC is diminishing abrasives that start strong and as you work your way they break down and finish finer. When doing by hand, the product dries fast and doesn't fully break down and leaving the finish half way through. Adding more product in the same area will again introduce bigger abrasives. Arhum got a Lake country applicator from me which does help compounding/polishing by hand, miles better and easier than the yellow applicator.
You also mentioned a cutting cream session done recently if I read your post correctly, so using UC so soon doesn't justify.
Also, for the sequence you mentioned, ultimate polish is very oils rich so ultimate wax may not bond to it properly, but mirror glaze #26 will. Or you can wash again after an UP session and then use ultimate wax.
    Just my 2 cents...

^^^ Bro those were not just some ordinary 2 cents. Great piece of info, some of which I really never knew and understood. Your post has been well noted and I've even copy pasted it in a Microsoft Word document as important notes. Thank you once again. By the way, is this DA Polisher (Rev or Version 2) from Meguiars really something extraordinary and worth the money or just some marketing hype?

My suggestion would be to focus on each aspect of the car
    1) steering wheel
    2) transmission
    3) door locks
    4) boot
By the way i must say you are an excellent writer ☺

Thanks Mustafa. That's very encouraging. Now, could you please elaborate how to focus on the enumerated aspects? Like door locks or boot for example. And in what sense?

    You are welcome.
Meguiars G110v2 is really a good DA but a bit overpriced compared to competitors. Their new launch DA is mt300. Other equally good options include:
If getting from USA, griots garage 6 is really a good option(requiring a 220v converter ). If getting from UK, DAS6pro (that I use) is a good option (same as GG6). A fellow Pakwheeler also imports MaxShine DA from China. MaxShine possibly builds DA for several vendors all around the globe so this is an equally good option too.

Now whether you need one is a very subjective topic. DA is mainly aimed for detailing enthusiast consumers to do their car paint correction once or twice a year. You won't really need to use it for the usual wax or paint cleansing session. And it's not just the DA, you need to buy several pads and then a few compounds/polishes (varying cut) and of course a lot of commitment as its a very tiring process (spanning 3-4 hours ) correcting your whole car with a DA.

You can get started with the basics and down the road if you think you need one, then get one

@smartdevil_striker : This upgrade alone has made a world of difference. With a lovely shade and no-glare for oncoming traffic, these babies do wonders in the night. Epic stuff. Great purchase. No regrets at all. In fact arrange for me a set for the high beam also.

    EPIC UNBOXING OF YEAR 2015

Ditch or loose the cheap HIDs and get these installed. More visibility with an awesome cut off line, clarity and above all, technically compatible to suit your car's battery and wiring, the proper way. I'll post some photos and if possible video for you people to judge. You may not take my word for it. I now know what I've been missing all these years.

brother a very inspiring and encouraging thread for those members like me, who are still in decision making phase. thumbs-up, you are doing a very good job.
I must say, its The best thread on GLI(Auto) so far. Waiting for the video you have promised to post while your trip to monal.

Anyways i need one suggestion from you and other fellow members. I need your review on black color, actually am confuse in between half white and black color. Its the off-white color, which sometimes holds me back and push me towards black.
    don't know what to do.
    thanks

Fouad bhai get the lake country applicator pad that Abdul bhai has mentioned. It will be perfect and you wont be needing any DA or anything. I used the pad with Ultimate polish on my black city which had medium density swirls and they were reduced to about 80-90%.

On your new car the combo of the lake country pad + UP will give you very nice results.

HOW TO DECIDE BETWEEN ATTITUDE BLACK AND DULL WHITE

Sir, each and every word of yours encourages me to be more productive, objective and vivid. Even the smallest help or role in your decision making will be considered an achievement. May Allah bless you with the ride that He deems suitable for you and may you be satisfied and content with His decision Inshallah.
Inshallah, if I'm feeling well today (Sunday), will drive uphill to either label it a fact or bust the myth once and for all. Got a severe case of throat and chest infection with fever.

    don't know what to do.
Okay, this is a highly subjective issue and a number of factors could be coined in to reach a conclusion and even after reaching that conclusion I bet you will still be confused between "dull white" and "attitude black". So here's what to do. You and I mean YOU alone, in the deepest and sincerest corner of your heart already know what you love. Your judgement or decision is being clouded by various factors pushing you back to where you started from. So here's the deal: This "dull white" that I like calling it for some reason has been there from IMC on our roads since 2003/2004 Corolla (maybe even earlier). I consider it to be a bigger nightmare than black. You could bring out all the shine / gloss and the bling in it but you still won't achieve what your heart wants: A little purish white, right?

Seemingly, dust free, it does not get all the attention required on time since we do not carefully detail this colour and take it for granted that it's clean. Surface contamination and oxidation build up over time, will render it to look creamish. Secondly, if you like distinguishing your ride from the rest of the pack, you will have to invest in nicer and bigger wheels, some tints, spoiler or a body kit. Be different or get lost into the swarm.

On the other hand, unless you live somewhere near Naga Parbat, dust is your black car's best buddy. Dust is easily visible on black. It is true that you will have to take care of black a little more than the dull white. People call this "safai iski azaab hai". Is it not a good thing that a car is getting slightly more attention than half white?

Take into account these factors (on a scale of 1-5):
    1. How dusty is the area where you live or drive?
    2. How much do you like detailing cars irrespective of the colour?
    3. Do you have helpers (or a driver) around the house who could be trained in basic detailing?
    4. Are you willing to spend on quality detailing products?

The truth is, black is the colour of authority, may it be a well tailored suit or a diplomatic car. How many presidents have you seen riding in an official white colour, strong blue, flexen mica or even medium silver car? Okay, I know the president is out of our league. But black is bad a$$, period. It WILL require more washing and swirls will be more pronounced (if YOU let too much of that happen to the ride).

Of late, I've been seeing a growing trend towards black in almost every other car. Man, should people stop buying black because of dust in our environment? Again, if you use your car merely as a mean of conveyance from point A to B and back go for dull white. If you are care free and don't have the time/helping hand to cater for black and a couch potato like me get the dull white.

But nothing beats that head-turning shiny, deep gloss, wet-looking black sedan with light tinted windows that passes by you. Satisfied? Was that helpful? You bet........I can still see Mr Bean on the other side of this conversation.

I dont see any Shashka part in it. The ppl who spent this amount of money they dont do it sheshka -- atleast I hav'nt seen one.

as mentioned yes it the functionality which is the catchy point, else switching the stereo with its remote me done with it -- Hope the multi-steering bring the ease which I am looking for.

And one more thing i am in Guangzhou (china) right now can you please tell me what can be purchased from here for my ride and let me know if you want any thing that i can bring in my hand luggage
Yes the visibility was pathetic and that's why I installed genuine Philips Crystal Vision. The visibility and white shade now are nothing less than extraordinary. Just don't attempt to install HID/Xenon Kits. As for your ride, try to search for quality scuff plates (illuminated or non-illuminated). Aluminium pedal set, Steering controls (full options). These are small items and you can bring along easily and are definitely worth it.

Rest have a safe journey and pray for us.
