Default Toyota Corolla GLi Auto (new design) acceleration issue

I have a brand new automatic 1.3 GLi and I feel as though my car's acceleration isn't as powerful as it should be. Family and friends who have driven my car are of the same opinion. This wasn't an issue when I bought the car - it only started happening a week after I started driving it.

When I press the accelerator pedal slightly, the output I get from the engine is very minimal. I have to press the pedal a long way down in order to get a proper response. So if I want to drive at 80, I feel as though I'm pressing the pedal for 120. This is also an issue during parking, when I want the car to move ahead or go back only slightly - I have to push the pedal down significantly and that increases the chances of me ramming my car into a wall.

Has anyone had a similar problem?

I took it to the dealership here and the mechanic drove my car, identified the issue and said they can't really do anything about it but they'll have it checked through their computer on Monday. He didn't sound very convincing at all. Perhaps part of the reason is that the car is under warranty.

I've always purchased petrol from Shell and Caltex. I don't think this is a fuel issue because I've changed petrol pumps many times.

    Noob question: What's 3s?

I think you may have a point there. Many thanks in advance for the suggestion. I'll get on it right away.

Bro above highlighted part is highly alarming, it is clear there is a defect and they are just causing lame excuses to ignore it but why you have to bear after paying such hefty amount. My friendly advice, when you visit them on Monday don't be so much gentle, try to go bit hard on them else they will give you some other date and in the end they gonna say... "Sir jee yeh toh sari gariyon mein masla hai".

Don't take it easy, on Monday just ramp into some senior official office and ask him to get it fixed. Remember they are "senior" for their staff not for you So you are the customer and you have rights after spending that large amount.

Your car is in warranty, you are at stronger side.
