Default Toyota Corolla Gli 2010 Issue

    Guys,

I have a corolla 2010 gli with 2nz-fe. While coming back from office on thursday at kashmir highway; the car felt a slight jerk like sudden loss of power. The speed was about 80-90 km/hr. After that the engine check light came on immediately and speedometer got stuck at 0.

The car lost a lot of power and was barely able to carry itself. After sometime the fuel guage also stopped working. And car also felt hot although the temp needle was in the middle.

Took it to my mechanic who was not able to find out the reason for all this after fiddling with a lot of stuff. Scanner showed camshaft sensor error but that did not resolve even after changing that sensor.

Took it to toyota the next day and those guys were also not able to find out the problem. They were just opening and cleaning different stuff one by one in the hope that this would solve the issue. I could clearly feel that they had no idea about the issue. They were just going about the usual stuff. Ultimately i told their superior that these guys do not have any idea about the issue and thus they closed up everything and ultimately said we would need to change the whole wiring of the car.

So now the car is standing at my place with no idea about the issue. I suspect this is a loose connection or a loose or faulty sensor somewhere but these guys are not able to find it.

Can someone help here please? @Xulfiqar or anyone?

i suspect a loose battery terminal or fused main relay....samething happened with my honda civic and liana. While driving at once no power in car.for honda civic it was a main relay issue and for liana it was a bad positive terminal.

Thanks for your response. Where would that main relay be located in corolla? Any idea? And the battery terminals have been checked and cleaned but no use.

if your fuel needle also came to empty then the problem lies with the fuel pump not getting current.

    Possibilties:
    Fuel pump relay gone bad
    Fuel pump fuse gone bad
    Fuel pump itself gone bad
    Loose fuel pump connector
    Loose ground for fuel pump

Does your fuel pump gives a prime noise like (goooooon) while you turn the key to ignition if not then the above possibilities should be checked.

I think a slight sound comes when i turn on the ignition. And i can check the rest of stuff. BTW the mechanics also fiddled with the fuel pump but nothing happened. Fuel guage needle came up twice randomly while reving the car hard and once while cleaning the battery terminals but went down again later.

I have given it to a mechanic who says that he has faced these issues many times in cars and he can fix this. Lets see what he comes up with :|

Check the ecu ground bunch of 4 or 5 brown wires which is bolted to the engine block, near the upper radiator hose at the engine side.
Also check all the connectors for water contamination.
