Default Engine Changing of Corolla 88 from 12 VALVE to 16 VALVE EFI

    Dears,

I want ot change the engine of my corolla 88 (Quota 92 mean register in 1992).

Currently 12 VALVE carburetor engine is installed by default (Factory fitted). The current engine was over heated some days before due to radiator. I replaced the radiator, change head gas kit and facing the head, Now it is working fine, AC is also working perfectly.

But I want to change the engine because i drive long and on hills areas, some time it make difficult for me to overtake , the pick of car is also not good on this engine and on AC the car goes down.

Please suggest me the EFI engine OR Engine and techniques that i can care during engine changing.

    Attached are my car photos.

    12/L, Quickly Power,

I heard that EFI engine is better in fuel consumption than carburetor engine.

E Series Engines Are Bolt-Ons For This Car Whereas A Series Engines Need Slight Mod(Timing Chain ) Side Mount To Fix It..

Go For 5AFE/4AFE or 5EFE WHich One You Find In Mint Condition..All Will Be Fitted With Minor Mods(4AFE/5AFE) To No Mods (5EFE)

Find One With Uncut Wiring....You Need To Either Mod Your Fuel Tank Or Get EFI Fuel Tank To Install Fuel Pump..Then You Need Fuel Lines To Set For EFI

Rest Of Stuff Will Be Easy And Bolt-On Almost....In End...Take Care Of EFI Wiring As Its Most Imp Part....

If U Find Uncut Wiring ..Just Make Connections With Fuse Box ....Don't Remove Thermostat ..Make FANs Run As It Comes From Factory.....!

Get Downpipe Of Size 45mm...(Exhaust Pipe)

There Are Many Ppl In Your TOWN Who Will Do It Easily... @hash4u @spectra Can Tell You Names Of People Who Are Good In Doing And Where You Can Find Good Condition Motors...In RWP/ISB

Saboor, What will be the disadvantage of alteration, if I want to fit/install 5AFE? You said that 5AFE not bolt on your car.

    Dear Farrukh (SER_GTR).

    Thanks for Reply

I will check it in Meto Khan Aihata Saddar Rawalpindi. Some mechanics are my friend, i will try that some one will go with me to that market for finding some better engine.

I will let you and this forum know what i observe and saw there?

Is there will be disadvantage of alteration?

    Thanks

I have swapped a 5AFE in my Indus Corolla and am quite satisfied with its performance. You can see some details of the swap (including costs) in this thread: https://www.pakwheels.com/forums/d-i...-indus-corolla

    Good luck!

@SER_GTR: In your quote in red you mentioned about tank, which is not clear to me? What kind of modification will be required in my fuel tank? Can i change the fuel pump or change the whole tank for compatibility with EFI engine.

    Please clear it to me.

    Thanks

Just find a 5A-FE in good condition and get it swapped; no worries.

Since All These Are EFI Engines So You Need Intank Fuel Pump For Them....Need To Get It Done..2E Uses Mechical Fuel Pump While All EFi's Use Electronic Fuel Pump Inside Fuel Tank

You Also Need Fuel Line And Fitting To Feed Fuel ALl The Way To Engine Room...It Runs On High Pressure Unlike Your OLD Engine So You Need Good Solid Line With Fittings...
