Default Rpm drops to 400 car vibrates a bit then goes to normal 700 to 800k

    Salam my dear brothers,
I have corolla xli that I purchased almost in mid 2012. I don't drive much the car has only made 9300 km so far.
recently I started noticing a strange behaviour that I never observed before.

Previosuly when I would start the car and leave it idle it would normally be at 700 rpm. So that's kind of a normal rpm that the car settled at.

    Now here is the situation

Car is neutral and ac off or if car is in gear and clutch pressed )

Given the above state of car I can notice that when I accelerate and then release it, the rpm goes high as expected and on release it drops way too low almost 300 to 400 the car vibrates a bit and then after a second or two it restores back to 700 rpm.

Do you think what could be the problem ?

get the car's throttle body serviced along with the cars IACV (idle air control valve) besides that make sure the airfilter is totally clean and not choked and even make sure that teh MAF sensor is clean along with sparkplugs! check all these and make sure they are in good condition ur problem should be solved and reset ur cars ecu by disconnecting the battery for 5 mins and then connect it and start the car and when u do dont do anything at all for 5 mins! let the car idle by itself for 5 mins dont press the pedal dont do anything!

Thanks bro, here is the update I have removed the air filter and I am putting up some pictures of it, I have tried to clean it a bit and then put it back, I have tested the car again and I could not reproduce the problem anymore but since even before it wasn't consistently reproducible I will try it again tomorrow morning when engine is cool,.. I hope it doesn't show up again..

No bro, I only checked filter and it seems clogged as I showed in pictures, for maf sensor cleaning should I do it myself or do you think I should take it to mechanic ?

is there a special spray for cleaning MAF sensor ? If so would you recommend any ?

In such situations, it's always a MAF or IACV problem...they need to be replaced or cleaned (in the case of IACV).

There is a pipe connecting Air filter to throttle body. Make sure this pipe is firmly tight from both the ends and not sucking air. Tighten end nuts even if they seem tight.

Mechanics usually forget to tight these ends after maintenance and drivers face irregular idle issues.

Please don't forget to reply here, if this method solves your issue.
