Default Corolla 98 1.3 carb engine economy or engine swap

Hi friends. I have a 98 Corolla with 1.3 carb engine. Giving me very bad mileage on long with ac at 90 kph on motorway I hardly got 10 km/l and in city with ac is around 7 to 8. I use very light paddle and drive with carefully. Need contact of a good person who can fix the same issue in rawalpindi or even in islamabad I mean good tuning expert. There is no smoke from the exhaust . Secondly what is the best option to swap this engine with . An Efi or better fuel efficient engine with not big modifications in power drive system . Need advice from Pak wheelers brother. Is it advisable to go to Toyota motors for the same job or there r better people who can fix this issue.

Is it in indus shape? If that's the case you can go for the engine came in Japanese model 96-7 it was known as 1.6 gli it will be a bolt on fitting since i have the same indus with that engine. Fyi the engine is genuine but the mileage won't get on the higher side expect around 10-11 in city maybe 14 outta city

your car have SOHC 12 valve 2E engine. you need to get it tuned by getting ignition timing valve clearance adjustment. Change to new air cleaner & pcv valve. this engine in a manual transmission car is able to spit out 13km/liter with aircon unless otherwise kaput.

Engine changing should be the last resort. It decreases the resale of a car. Check all the possible solutions given by other members. Those are some good solutions. If i were you i would have done everything to revive my old engine. Engine swap is never easy on pocket and is a complicated procedure. It's an EFI engine not carby. You can find good engines at Bilal Gunj Lahore. Dont know about isloo
Here's my two cents, get your car wheel balancing/ wheel alignment done. Tyres pressure should be 30psi each and use oem fuel and air filters. Change plugs to stock.
I have done all these things and right now my 2013 gli is giving me 13 km/l in city with AC with very decent driving and the acceleration is improved too

I agree. Maybe I kinda follow hyper miling tech i am getting this mileage. the car is very well maintained. I hope i am getting good figures of mileage MashaaAllah.
If the city is 12-13 yesterday it did an average of 13.2. I am hoping on motorway I will get 16-17.
