Default 1.3 GLi MT vs. 1.3 GLi AT

Aoa all. I have gone through various threads of the 11th gen corolla extensively, however, still in a delimma to choose between 1.3mt and 1.3 at. I would be switching over from 2013 honda city ivtec mt in search of good suspension and comfort only. My budget is 2.0 mil to include regn, tyres change/alloys+insurance. Please advice considering daily mileage of 60-80 km.

Everyone is in same dillema if u cannot exceed 2 million than definitely gli at comes i ur budget.
It all depends on you i think these days its v difficult to drive manual cars specially in Lahore due to heavy traffic and obviously auto is peace of mind
I would say intead of buying manual u go for auto gli bcoz diff is only 75k that means u r paying for gear box only and for 75k u r also getting ur legs and brain relaxed. im also driving gli auto but i dont drive fast and mostly my use in intercity so no much much diff for me regarding underpowered and all.
If ever i wanted to switch to bigger engine than Grande

GLI M/T as it would provide better mileage than the auto counterpart, but if you can bear that 2-3 KM/litre loss in mileage coupled with ease of driving esp. on busy roads with high traffic volume, then auto should be the choice.

I travel between isb/pindi and driving a mt city is no less than a 2nd degree torture. My priorty is suspension and then the transmission. Honda city just cannot survive 5k km balanced and aligned between isb/pindi, starts feeling like a sohrab cycle after 2k. I justed wanted to get a first hand info on the mileage part and the underpower tag that people give to the at 1.3

Suspension and comfort , corolla wins right here for you , about gli mt
And gli auto , they are very good cars with good power ,

I got gli auto , its v convenient comfortable and powerful enough ,
    I am getting 11 km
In city on long route it would be 12.5-13

Manual will feel slightly more responsive but manual nowadays is a nightmare , and will give 1-2 km more

As u were driving a prosmatec u wont like the manual downgrade so go for gli auto

Sir, my humble advice would be to wait for some time, collect some more moola, and go for 11th gen. Altis 1.6 auto. You won't regret your decision in long run, In shaa Allaah.

yes i understand your point but the problem here is that the budget has to remain the same 2 mil. nothing more than that as have to pay hefty amounts for some upcoming projects in near future In Sha Allah. Any more delay to the next calender year would cut price for my previous car.

if your budget is 2 million and cannot afford more then go for Gli A/T with closed eyes.

Now a days Traffic on the roads are too much and A/T transmission suits very well in these kind of traffic. Gli A/T is not an underpowered car if you are not a rash driver. Enjoy your drive with A/T transmission plus only 75k is the difference b/t Gli M/T and Gli A/T which is worth to spend.

bought a Gli AT over a Mt in feb, was really scared when people were saying its underpowered etc, but the fact of the matter is , when stuck in traffic jams there is no such thing as under powered , till this day completely satisfied with my decision,
great car , after changing tires (advan db) its noise less , very soft suspension , enjoying every bit of it, money well spent
average is 11 in city and i got 14 on motorway (eids etc)

Then you may go with GLI auto, which is a good car for city driving, but would obviously not give you the driving pleasure and power required for high way driving.

Mohummed Ahmed sir , one should not expect driving pleasure out of a mere 1.3 , even the mt does not give driving pleasure,
pick wise Gli Mt is really good , but even my AT , with 5 people on board and full luggage easily reached 120 km/h , you cant expect more from a 1.3 family sedan , obviously 1.6 is much much better than 1.3 granted one can afford it easily

if its mostly used by two or max three people, go for it. if its a family car and to be mostly used with 4 or 5 people, than a m/t is advised as a/t would become annoying with that.

my 1.3 mt city dies as soon as i try crossing 120kmh on motorway so if 1.3 auto gives me the same speed and more comfort, i think i should go for it then.

How much distance do you travel daily?
Are you now inclined towards an auto or is a manual totally fine?
Do you travel in City or on Highway?

If you travel a long distance daily and have to bear the traffic mess of a city daily and the manual transmission bothers you, without a doubt, go for an auto. If however your travel takes you to mountains where power is required, buy a manual or 1.6 AT Altis. Regarding the third question, for City travel auto is best; for highway though, manual is preferable. Lastly, if you have become more fond of an auto, go for it. You won't be disappointed. Personally, if you have a big sedan like Corolla, which isn't easy to drive in congested traffic, an automatic is much better. Yes, the fuel consumption is a bit more, but who cares; atleast the left foot is at ease and so is your mind.

the underpowered tag is what worries me. i have to drive alone b/w isp/rwp and the driver makes a couple of pick ups for the family. the car get fully packed for a long route on highways twice or thrice in a year max
