    Default Corolla Ecotec

    Salam
Was is there any difference in the engine offered in Corolla ecotec trim or is it just a gimmick by IMC ?
Im considering getting a Corolla for daily commuting and having CNG is a must So is it worth going for an ecotec one or should i just get a normal one ?

yeah i know about the SIS kit
have heard and seen alot of claims on PW that ecotec versions had a different head (non vvti) but still has vvti badges on the front fenders
so what would you say should one go for an ecotec or a standard Corolla (with proper CNG fitting)

Ecotec is advised if it's cng that you want. Ecotec manages the system in such a way that less load is applied on the engine and hence less maintenance issues

    Load...?

What my understanding is that the SIS CNG kit is an EFi version. Normal cng kits even on efi cars are actually non efi.

From what I recall, the ecotec that I used, which was for a single trip, it had a system where if you wanted immediate power and you floored the vehicle, it would convert to petrol on its own, when you crossed 120, it converted to petrol on its own and a few other small things.
When a vehicle keeps switching too and fro, the vehicle system remains lubricated and hence the general maintenance issues that are caused due to dry fuel become non existent

not much difference in the average fuel consumption of ecotec and normal corolla IF your corolla is tuned good or computerized.... i doubt they changed the head of the ecotec... i think the major engine components stay the same but there are numerous settings that you can play with to get max mileage out of the engine sucha s remapping the ECU, ignition timing, valve lift and so on.... considering the complexity and delicacy of the ecotec cng kit, i think it is a bad choice.....

CNG is pretty much available throughout the year in Karachi so its practical having a CNG fitted car here
