Default Gli 1.3(2011) or gli auto 1.6

    Dear Pakwheelers,
    Assalam-o-alaikum,

I am looking to buy a 2011 model Toyota Corolla in Karachi. In my budget I have the option of going for a Gli manual 2011, or Gli 1.6 auto. I need your valuable guidance regarding both cars, their pros and cons, comfort, fuel economy, maintenance, resale etc. In short out of these two, which is a better family car? Your feedback will help me decide which car to opt for
    Thanks!

I still have an '11 gli in the home. Very nice car. Bigger than city, good performance but i guess finding a very good one will be hard. Mines driven around 178k kms but still runs, feels and sounds like new. If the roads are not carpeted or are in buri haalaat than atleast in Pakistan i guess corolla has best suspension as in it will not hit speed breakers. Now the 1.6 auto i guess is all same except the engine but still no airbags. I dont know about its average but manuals almost always have better mileage.

It all depends on your decision to either go for manual or auto...in a city like Karachi, driving a manual in peak traffic could be a nightmare, so auto could be a wise decision....now coming to averages, you will probably get the same average from both...have a 2010 Gli and 2012 Altis (having the same engine and transmission as a Gli Auto 1.6)...averages I am getting is roughly the same...as far as resale goes, obviously you will be able to sell a Manual one quicker....but then again, there will be people looking to buy the auto in the price of a manual...so you wont have any difficulty selling either....rest it is your decision that which car suits best to your daily needs
we ride together......we die together.......BAD BOYS 4 LIFE!!!!!!!

My Altis 1.6 Auto gives me 11.5 - 12 kms in Karachi city traffic with AC.
It went upto 13.8 km also a couple of times.

Haven't tested it on the highway yet.
