    Default Comparison

    Please compare and contrast
    1. 2007 Corolla G (imported, 1500 cc) at 17 lac rupees
    VERSUS
    2. brand-new Corolla GLI (local assembled, 1300 cc) at 19 lac rupees.

Which one to buy if the intended use is everyday normal use and prime goal is reliability and performance. Thanks

Get a brand new GLI for the following reasons

    1. You do NOT know anything about the history of the 2007 imported car but you know that GLI 2016 is brand new.
    2. 2007 imported Corolla G would have been imported years ago (at least 5 years ago) and have now been used (perhaps even abused) by locals on local roads. The relatively expensive parts mean many owners do not take care of the car as it should be done. It has no service history.
    3. A 9-year-old car means it would be needing service and maintenance more often in the future which the GLI won't because it is new. A Corolla G (9-year-old) is more likely to breakdown than a 2016 GLI.
    4. You get the look and feel of a brand new car.
    5. Parts and mechanics are easily available for the GLI as compared to the Corolla G, particularly in rural areas.
    6. Current model Corolla is much better looking and drives quite comfortably. Now with added immobiliser, Indus has removed one of its major drawbacks.

    Cons
    ====
The waiting period of the GLI is significant depending.

    Thanks Raja sahib!
Thanks brother Exubery! for your comprehensive and detailed answer, much appreciated.
I am reading elsewhere on the forum that 1300 cc engine is relatively smaller for the same-size body that they have on 1600 cc and 1800 cc Altis and Grande. That makes me think if I should increase my budget to around 25 lacs and get a Grande ... what do you think?
Now that also make me think if I go up a couple of lacs further (above 25 lacs) then I can get an almost new JDM corolla instead of local grande ... how would you guys compare those two? Thanks in advance

For now, a grande appears to be more attractive, it will be new. If you compare car to car, the jdm wins in all forms besides resale and to an extent parts. For jdm, if God forbid, an accident takes place, you will be safer in the jdm but finding body parts might be a hassle. Besides this little thing, it beats pkdm in every aspect
