Default Altis 1.6 or something else?

My question here is simple. I'm looking for a sedan for my family. Now I have considered Honda city for a while and though its cheaper and good on fuel. I wanted something bigger and tougher. Nothing better for the roads of Pakistan than a corolla.
Now drop city out or dont focus completely on that maybe.

I looked at GLi manual at first and it totals to about 1.9 million including registration etc(Non-filer) and then I came across altis 1.6 that totals to around 2.2 million

    What would you folks recommend?

Now what I already know is as follows:
GLi has that old engine from the previous generation as Pakistan is the only country still producing 1.3 corollas. thats a downside
the power-weight ratio as told by some people makes fuel consumption and immediate pickup a little bit of a down side.
    but its 3 lacs cheaper.

Altis 1.6 on the other hand:
Automatic transmission, slightly better or similar consumption as manual GLi(so I'm told)
better pick up due to bigger engine and better horsepower.
    alloy rims
    LCD

    WHAT do you guys think?
is altis 1.6 worth the additional 3 lacs? is there actually that big a difference? I plan on keeping the car for some 10 years. which one would be a better choice?

What should I buy for reasons such as peace of mind, fuel consumption, add ons, power(pick up), comfort and any features that you may want to mention.

again.. IS ALTIS 1.6 worth the additional 3 lacs?
I'd request @autophile to shed some light on that. Your Altis is a dream of a car

If you are going for altis1.6 than super white as it is not offered in gli whereas silver is. I tried to upload the pics for both colors but PW app crashes every time I tried to upload the photos.

I am planning for strong blue color this time, i am already using silver city since 2010, and super white has became very common, every second car is super white, already there are two super white in my family, strong blue looks real men's color, professional and executive color according to my opinion.

We also initially made our mind regarding strong blue but then my father shifted it to medium silver. Then after seeing super white we again asked to change color to super white but it was too late. Medium Silver color was in our luck it's a good color but we always miss the white one.

Strong blue will be hard to maintain I guess. Keep white as your second option I personally love that color in Altis

thats why the average of gli is better than 1.6. compare the millage of 1.6 and gli At and u will see that 1.6 gives same or slightly better average than gli AT.
btw my Altis 1.6 1600km gives 13 to 14 km /l on highway. it will improve after 5000 km

anyone knows how good or bad is the fuel average on GLi manual transmission and Altis 1.8 manual and A/T?
just asking because I know A/T is so bad with pickup starting from 0. so I dont get to seeing its consumption.

Seeing your posts about Altis 1.6 it appears i varies from 10 to 15 depending on city and highway along with driving style maybe.
how do GLi and 1.8 compete

Summer with full ac and lots of idling 11+ km/l

Be polite on the road. Always give way to others, particularly ambulances and pedestrians.
