Default CITY 1.5L STEERMATIC vs COROLLA 1.8 VVti AUTOMATIC

Now, I m going to put a thread which may results some harm to TOYOTA LOVERS.

    Just compare the
    FEATURES
of HONDA CITY 1.5L VTEC STEERMATIC & TOYOTA COROLLA 1.8L VVTi ALTIS AUTOMATIC once.

I know ALTIS belongs to upper category from STEERMATIC.

But just consider once. I will assure u it will be real SHOCK to hear the TRUTH.

    First PRICE :

The PRICE of HONDA CITY 1.5L VTEC STEERMATIC is Rs. 985,000.

    AND

The PRICE of TOYOTA COROLLA 1.8L VVTi ALTIS AUTOMATIC is Rs. 1,309,000

This represents the price difference is 3.24 LACKS.

But still CITY STEERMATIC has got some PLUS POINTS where ALTIS simply LACKS.

    I will continue it...

The UPPER HAND of ALTIS is its 134 HP and CITY STEERMATIC has got 110 HP and ALTIS has got AIR BAGS aswell.

But first I would like to hear some comments of TOYOTA LOVERS & HONDA LOVERS.

If any body knows more + points of ALTIS AUTOMATIC over the CITY STEERMATIC then he can simply post and compare it with STEERMATIC aswell.

And please remain this THREAD CLEAN & compare only features of these 2 CARS.

Whats so special about 1.8 VVti ALTIS AUTOMATIC???

    Prove this statement.

First off the price u've stated for the city is wrong,

    VTEC Steermatic 1.5 L Rs: 1,029,000.00

So the Price difference is only 280000

    Now the pros

The Altis has a stronger body, so more safe in a crash.

Has more power bigger and more efficient engine than the City. The car handles alot better on the motorways.

The Altis has ABS, Four wheel Disc brakes with Brake Assist and EBD. City only has two front wheel disc brakes, no abs or brake assist or EBD.

The Altis has a More luxorius interior than the city although it's a personal preference i guess.

If you take these things into consideration, adding the 300 CC and Air bags too you'll see the price difference ain't that much compared to what u're paying for.

Personally i think the Altis automatic is a really good buy (don't like the handling on the manual)
Minor bun engine made Benny Lava...

Get your facts straight first, the Altis does NOT have EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution).

And I have yet to see the 'stronger body' misconception save any lives. In the course of the last 2 years alone of me going to IoBM (Korangi creek) I've seen Corolla accidents take many lives, so lets not venture there. I've seen Corollas (and other cars including Civics) totally flattened. So a stronger body has nothing to do with saving lives, thats a concept only uneducated people who know zilch about cars can think of. Modern engineering relies on crumble zones and impact beams to save lives.

The City and Altis are two different cars and not exactly a fair comparison. City is smaller and has a very smooth ride, Altis is bigger and is much more powerful. Overall I enjoyed the comfort of the City Steermatic but the Altis felt much more powerful.

Well well. Now this thread is taking some interest.

    @shani248

Actually HONDA cuts off Rs 50,000 from thier CITY STEERMATIC. Thats make the difference of

    280,000 + 50,000=330,000

    @shani248

Stronger body is a killer. City's been built upon self destruct technology & a safety cage is responsible to save you. It's much more safe than Altis. Altis saves itself not you, not the pedestrian, in a crash. Corolla is worst in pedestrain safety.

Please smell the coffee & wake up from the 86rolla age dreams. Today, they claim a good crash as a good sign.

When a car crashes it undergoes some forces & accepts it, that keep those forces from generating strong G-Forces & thus prevents passengers.
If it's tough & solid, & obviously has greater mass, as in the case of Altis - it'll face even more forces, but still won't crash, where would those strong G-Forces go? The car will transformmed them to your body, and the result could be fatal.
Today, the F1 & even all car manufacturars are producing cars with self-destruct. In addition: international model of City with daul airbags & ABS has got 5star safety rating!

More power! yeah, but does it handle that power? It shakes horribly with full throttle.
Who can ever think that VVTi is more efficient than VTEC? Good joke brother!
ALTIS HANDLES BETTER? It's the end of the world! bahi even Cultus handles better tha Altis.
Have you tested ABS of Altis? It's totally wortthless, the car still skids, even on side ways like XLi, at hard braking.
Four wheel disc of rolla is totally a drama. Brake mechanism is not balanced & very irresponsible. Besides, Four-wheel without EBD is literally worthless & Altis doesn't has EBD.
What is luxurious in Altis, wood panel is not a luxary dimension. Altis is tighter in spaces & comes with very uncomfortable bumpy seats.

(Please my brothers, nothing personal here.)
    Cheers

CITY STEERMATIC has got VTEC under the hood which is also PRESENT in the list of 10 GREATEST AUTOMOTIVE ENGINES ever made. Here is the proof.

    http://cars.uk.msn.com/news/car_news...mentid=1025845

It represents that the VTEC of HONDA is MUCH MUCH EFFICIENT than the VVti of TOYOTA.

How eaisly we compare Yamaha's powerplant with crappy grandfather VVTi tech, against world's largest engine maker's biggest comsumer class+ performance; most powerful yet efficient & very reliable: VTEC.

ALTIS is way faster due to its more HP & 1.8L under the hood. I already mentioned it in the TITLE POST.

Actually we were discussing about the ENGINE EFFICIENCY. And ENGINE EFFICIENCY doesn't only hav SPEED. It is the way of the reaction of ENGINE wrt FUEL EFFICIENCY AND POWER GENERATION.

    Got it or not ???

    Salam

Although Altis needs to be compared with Civic, both being 1.8 liters but I think thats the only common thing among these two. However this comparison between Steermaitc and Altis may also prove quite close.

Regarding fuel efficiency, it depends alot on the driving style, but keeping it straight, I think Steermatic can travel twice as much as Altis in same liters of fuel due to better engineering at the part of Steermatic. Also due to lesser weight and CVT technology.

I personally beleive that Steermatic, being auto transmission, can really give tough time to Altis automatic while racing.
Braking and handlig of Steermatic is way better than Altis but not as good as Civic.
So in my opinion Steermatic has got better value than Altis.
