Default Toyota Experts : Corolla 3ZZFE MOD

    Hey all Toyota Experts,

I wanna increase performane of my Corolla Se Saloon's 3ZZ-FE Engine. I was thinking about installing a Performance Air Filter, the round cone type as I have one lying around.

The problem is the Sensor in the pipe near airbox, where to install that and how. And what type of pipe will I need to get or Fabricate.

And will it give increase in performance over the stock airbox?

Heres what I found from the net. Its a Corolla engine but its slightly different from SE SALOONS engine. But I guess after looking at it, someone can tell me where can I get the small manifold which goes right b4 the filter in which the Air Sensor thingy is installed.

@ kiani1..We also replaced the 4A-FE airbox with a performance cone filter..there was also a sensor in it. we simply unplugged it and it works just fine...another idea is to make a hole in the pipe of cone filter and insert that sensor into the pipe..i think its some sort of thermostat sensor kind of thing.

    @ PoppatTurbo

I just removed the sensor and the car stalls. Now today I'll look out for a pipe with space for sensor in it. THe problem is that the 3ZZFE THrottle body is located at an opposite place to other Toyota Engines and requires a special bend pipe to fit in there.

It's Mass Airflow sensor and is one of the parameters in an EFI system......Removing that, usually cause rich A/F mixture!
