    Default Xli engine noise

    Dear Experts,
My friend owns a 2006 Corolla Xli, CNG fitted. He is facing some problem with intake manifold. On consultation with Toyota Motors mechanic he was told that the intake manifold problem is very common among the cng fitted Xli's. Currently the engine is making weird noise at low r.p.m which seems most likely to be coming from Intake manifold.

    What are the possible causes?
What can be the precautions to be taken in future (after replacing this manifold)?
Also can anyone tell me the price tag plus labor for the replacement of manifold?

@Air_Explorer. 3-4 months back it used to cost 6000 with labour. Not from toyota ofcourse as they rip you off.

yes, these days it costs Rs.6000 excluding labour, but main concern is that I'm a bit hesitant about going to any mechanic other than Toyota walas.

Toyota walas have given me an estimate of Rs.10,000 for intake manifold & Rs.1500 for labour.

I got it done from Concept Motors in I-10 and they're the only people we trust.

bas issue hi trust ka hai.Ab agar mein Rs.6000 ka manifold market se le kar mechanic se lagwata hon aur phir bhi noise na gayi to kia hoga, yeh dar hai.

but another pakwheeler @nadeem5476 gave me a reference of a mechanic,I might visit him too.

Thats too much. You'll always get quotes from toyota much higher than what you get from the spare part dealers.

Sure, you should get it done from that mechanic if he's trust worthy.

The simplest and durable solution is to get it removed. We did it few years back and since then our XLI 06 has stopped making noise, didnt cause any trouble.
