Default Corolla Gli Fuel Consumption Dropped

The car has clocked 7000km as of today. i took the car to toyota Rawal Motors after 5000km\\\'s. Replaced air filter, spark plugs, engine oil, oil filter.
The car was doing 13 to 13.5km/ltr by that time. the chief mechanic there manualy adjusted the air/fuel mixture.
since then the consumption has dropped to 11.5 to 12km/ltr.
i took the the coar later to Enercon but they said that the car was OK.

what can be done now for better fuel economy?

Better get it back to the mechanic and ask him to re-adjust the mixture, but this time not on assumption basis, but using the OBD scanner!

just confirmed from toyota rawal, the dont conduct any sort of on board diagnostics. they say that they\'ll try to fix it manually. no scanners involved. pls advise!

I think the extreme cold weather might be a reason But not sure. Just try Rawal once more and if it does not improve the situation try other options.

BTW at 20k check up this month Toyota Islamabad inspected spark plugs, but said they were ok and did not replace. Air cleaner (I changed it after 10K) was also declared ok after cleaning. They just changed oil filter and did break service. I asked them not to do tuning or tweak other settings as I feared other problems might arise.

autophile, that was very wise of you to tell them not to touch the sensors. i didnt expect that they would do it manually. its a pain to go all the way to toyota rawal, specially when i know that they\'ll try their traditional hit n try (manual) methods.

I got the first inspection done from Toyota Rawal and was not satisfied by their attitude.
I now get it done by Toyota G.T Motors and Im satisfied.
You should try other 3S dealerships.
One of the most difficult things in the world is to know how to do something, and to watch without comment, somebody else do it incorrectly.

    Its normal.
The cars consume more fuel than normal during the run-in period.
Once it crosses the 5000km mark on the clock it will get better Insha-Allah.
If the problem still persists than you can get it checked.
