guys, Altis has 134 bhp, while has civic vti has 130 so the there ain't much difference.I think it would be fun racing these two side by side.I am fan of honda's and i m sure vti will kick its ***.In PHILLIPINES altis comes up with 145 bhp now thats unmatchabble but the model intruduced here is WITH USA SPECS.
    SO LETS SEE.....

You might be righ "sallondon" but u have to see that as Civic VTi has only 145 Nm Max Torque while the new Corolla has around 180 Nm torque. So , that kinda makes this a really tight competition.

i think that corolla altis will beat civic vti. because world wide a corolla altis of 134 hp touches top speed of 220km. and o-100km in 8.5sec
now civic vti tops nearly 200km and 0-100km in near 10 sec
    so altis have a edge
if i am wrong guide me

u r right kingkong1. the power-to-weight and torque-to-weight ratio of altis is much better than of the current civic vti. and i agree altis will easily outperform the current vti.
however not much can be said about the upcoming 2006 vti. but i think the competition will still be close. 2006 civic will have 140hp compared to 134hp in altis but 2006 civic will be heavier than altis so itll be a close call.

well please dont take me wrong. i dont hold anything against civic. just giving the facts and u can feel the difference in power and torque when u drive them both. moreover i have also given my comments on the new 1.8 civic. i just think it will be a close call considering only 6hp edge for 2006 civic over corolla altis (140hp vs 134hp) which is offset by the extra weight of new civic so technically there should not much difference in performance. i hope the new civic may refute my apprehensions.

The other concern about civic however is the quality of the current civic. its really concerning as most cars develop body rattles and suspension noises and have seen myself owners complaining about new cars at Honda dealerships.i hope honda may revive and rebuild their quality in the upcoming model.
