    yes ABS can be retro-fitted but honestly speaking the mechanics in PK aren't qualified enough to do it correctly.

    actually even toyota PK can't get it right from the factory in the higher models...

    you are better off getting good tyres and driving more carefully.

    abs is complicated caliberation as storm mentioned, even in my ae-101 GT specs brakes is wired for abs, but i avoid the equipment. best solution is to copy suspension setup and tire setup of corolla sports model known as xrs which has lot better handling and braking power.

    Practically the issue arises with someone slamming the breaks hard and the tires locking up. Corolla is the worst car to do it with as for some unexplainable reason good tyres do not make much difference, lets say 195 Dunlops, whereas on the civic (non abs) the locking is much more effective and the breaking distance is much less then a corolla. I personally tend to break hard enough for the tyres NOT to lock, its taken some time and is not a perfect technique as under sudden breaking situations one tends to loose composure but if you can control the pressure then the breaking is not too bad. Any insight on why this is the case with a corolla and not with a civic exi (both are non ABS four disk setups)?

    i ave got a SE-SALOON AUTO
    to improve brakes u must service ur brakes on time and i m using 205/50 tires yokohama AVS sports with 16" rims and brakes have improves till some extent
    BUT STILL COROLLA'S BRAKES ARE BLUNDER . Of the mechanic of Toyota Walton told me that the brake problem ouccers because of the height of car is high and the width is very low
    Secondly he told me that the size of disc on rear wheel is very small as compare to this car .
    @ Levin
    Bro do you think that Lowring suspension will work improving the brakes and handling alothough it will also give sporty looks

    @nauman_2558

    the international model of corolla doesn't have rear disk brakes......it has drum brakes......the way these two types of braking systems behave is quite different.....the leading and trailing drum get their force that pushes them against the rotating drums from the drums.....this means that when drums are rotating slowly the braking force is less and vice versa..........therefor they usually dont jam the wheels like the disk brakes do.......most cars that dont have abs use the front disk and rear drum comdination e.g. city, sunny, lancer, cultus, mehran etc.
    even the international model of corolla........

    as for the solution of your current problem.....i suggest that you drive at very slow speeds for a few more months may be an year and wait for the new corolla to be launched (the camry lookalike) and pray that the new model doesn't have the braking issues.......or you can go to the supreme court and request CJ to take action against Toyota Indus and make them fix this problem in your car.....
