Default why does pakistani corolla have rear disk brakes

why the hell does pakistani corollas have rear disk brakes...check out this web page.....
    http://www.toyota.com/corolla/specs.html?s_van=GM_TN_COROLLA_SPECS

its because of rear wheels having disk brakes instead of drum brakes like in the rest of the world that our corollas are so unstable and skid alot...

    wake up brother
disk brakes are much of efficient then drum brakes
the problem is not the brakes only in corolla.its a combination of things. the brakes of corolla lock as required.
Life is short and very unpredictable just like a Quarter mile .....

leading and trailing drums dont jam the wheels at once. thats why this skidding problem is not found in other cars....not even in old shape corolla.......if disk brakes are used in rear wheel then they must have ABS

Four wheel disk brakes with no ABS is the basic reason of skidding of our lovely corolla.
    be happy.

@phantomwarrior, wrong theory dude. The drums arent effective thats why they dont jam.
"The rough, hard idle swells up and out from under the car, ricochets off other cars, and rams into the ears of the driver, the spectators. You think twice about a 383 Road Runner, but a hemi only once -- and let it pass."

drums were present in older models. but the corolla now has four wheel disks and the weight of corolla is not according to the braking force and the car skids. ABS is a solution present in altis and not in SE SALOONS.

they dont jam thats why the car doesn't skid!!!!
all cars that dont have ABS are using drum brakes in the rear....e.g. city, lancer etc.
even corolla in the international market.
when a front wheel drive car brakes, most of the weight shifts to the front and most of the braking forc is required at the front. rear wheels just supplement the braking force of front wheels. having rear drum brakes is a better option...lets say lesser evil than having disk brakes in the rear wheels without ABS

but if u know the perfect maneouvre of an emergency brake u can stop it from skidding. just pump the brake fast, and if u dont like it just dont buy it. drums dont have enough braking force.

COROLLA ALTIS HAS ABS!!! what language shud i speak in. only gli and xli dont have ABS!

    @rohaansaeed

that doesn't excuse indus motors of poor engineering design...........of course people who are well aware of corolla's braking problems dont buy them.........

the biggest seller version of corolla is XLI and it doesn't have ABS.

isn't safety of people travelling in a XLI important

this model corolla has been selling since 2002/03 and still these jackasses of indus moters have not been able to fix this problem...............in fact they haven't tried to solve it..........they are just busy selling these poorly engineered car to the people of pakistan!!!!

i think rear disk brakes in corolla are more of a markrting gimic than an actual technical requirement...........they just installed it keep up with civic

Remember one thing, Indus Motor is an assembler, not a manufacturer of Corolla. They put in your car what they get cheapest from Japan (mostly old discarded stuff).

When they were introducing Corolla, drum breaks were not available for that particular model, so they got discs.

Even Old Civic Exi had four-wheel disc breaks in the last few months, after which it was discarded, but it does not skid like Corolla on hard breaking at high speeds even with General tyres.

To control a Corolla, you should never push the pedal hard as it suddenly locks tyres (which means break is overworking). It skids because front shocks are hard and do not aborb momentum much that's why when wheels are locked body is still pushing ahead, thus skidding.

Solution. Be soft with breaks. I am driving a Corolla for the last 2 and half years and apart from occassional skids, it has never put me in any danger.
Be polite on the road. Always give way to others, particularly ambulances and pedestrians.

    wow
this thread had 1 reply an hour ago

drums/discs doesnt have anything to do with rolla skiding
civic has rear discs for ages now, and it has better braking than most local cars, ( even the models without ABS )

rolla skids because of abnormal wieght distribution while braking due to that rediculus high spungy suspension.

i c that there is no room for participation here...

just to add to some info that nissan sunny comes with rer drums ..with ABS...

and 4 wheel disc without abs isnt much good...

drums do a better job...if you keep the handbrake adjusted...
Do the environment a favour, Use less airconditioning .. and please walk to the shop to get a pack of cigarretes..its only a 3 min walk..
