    Default Manual Vitz 1.0 V GLi 1.3

    Guys, the other day a Vitz, modded, not sure to what extent engine wise, pretty much beat my GLi! Im not a bad driver, but this time, my GLi just gave up somehow. Both cars were on petrol, I took the lead by a huge margin(impressed how the 2NZ-FE accelerates) and then my GLi gave up in 3rd gear and the Vitz took over quite well! Can a Manual Vitz really beat an XLi/GLi?

    i think you've got the info mixed up. fewer gears means longer ratios, meaning less engine revs for more speed.

    example: 2 identical cars one auto vitz and one manual vitz both in 2nd gear doing 60km/h the auto will be revving near 2000rpm while manual will be revving near 2500rpm because it has 5 shorter gears.

    same case with the city which is also a 4 speed auto & 5 speed manual as far as i know.

    @Storm I'm thinking the same about you, though I may be wrong!!!In a transmission we have the engine gear linked to the transmission which then moves the wheels through the final drivetrain or differential. The 1st gear is the largest in size and requires more revs from the engine to produce 1 revolution of the gear. As we continue to shift the gear sizes decrease in comparison to the engine gear size and the engine produces lower revs and gets more revolutions from the wheels. This is why we only get 45 km/h at 6000rpm in 1st gear while we can do 220km/h at 6000rpm in 5th gear. Due to this a car with lesser gears will have to produce more revs at the same speed compared to a car with more gears. As for the " fewer gears means longer ratios " I agree with you, but this depends on various situations,engine sizes and gear sizes. As for " meaning less engine revs for more speed. " I disagree with you.

    As for your example: this situation will never arrise even if you put the Vitz in D2 the revvs you have mentioned are too less. If it is in D then it will have shifted to 3rd gear if you are mantaining the speed. In a transmission with 5 gears, we will also have shifted to 3rd gear but even if we keep it in 2nd it will have lower revs.

    WEll guys a vvti v/s zgen interesting well it depend on driver and car engine condition, well em from quetta just 3 days before we had race of Corolla Gt twin cam 2.0 4 thorthle (20 Valve) 98 Model indus shape Japan assemble Vs Civic 1.8 2007, well civic taken lead in start but after few seconds corolla Gt taken lead and beat the civic by lead of one car both car did 150 km/h

    @ good_person, the corolla was 200cc more and had a twin cam!!!! after the initial pick ofcourse it would have taken the lead. The lead is small but i guess thats cuz the model was so old!!!

    yeah Neutrino bro its old model Gt come in 1986, 1988-90,93 and after it i 98 is its last as i know but the person who is de onwer of dis car he kept is car in excllent conditon

    well guyz u talking abt gear ratios..so my cousin is havin 1.0 manual vitz.it can do 50km/h in 1st gear n thn fuel cuts off..so wat can v say to ths..n wats the speed of 2005 civic exi in 1st gear?n can sum 1 tell me wats the fuel cut off.n y it hapens?n do it damage engine?

    @i_mean_vtec, ur cousins Vitz is a manual I had this experience in an auto, and i cannot say for the Exi but the fuel cut off is, that the engine just before crossing the red line has its fuel cut off so that there is no chance of blown engines, this is pre-programmed in the ECU and can be changed if u want it, it is for the benifit of the engine and does not damage it, it ensures longer life. The fuel is only cut off if we are really gunning the engine in a particular gear, but in some cases if we for e.g shift the car from 5th to 3rd at a high speed the engine will cross the red line and not get cut off.
