    Default Corolla Altis VVTi 1.8

Salam to all the dear members brothers, I want you people to discuss the new Corolla Altis VVTi 1.8; its consumption average; its new features and it being lacking again in the alloy rims unlike any other decent car of its class. I would be thankful for your contributions.

let that car come on road. i mean let the car get common and let some time to pass like a month or so. then you can get its effeciency reports. that would be worthy. its too early to ask for it.

vtec will still rock. as that vvti generates 140bhp as compared to 130bhp of vtec. vti can kill 1.8L vvti due to its lesser weight. i think so

the toyota people say that altis has the same consumption as xli's.........they claim it does 13-15 kms per litre....they have added fog lamps as standard....the antenna is now glass ambedded (printed)...i think all the models have that now ..not sure...

for those who say altis would be eaten by civic then they are wrong and as far as the consumption is concerned then i would be in favour of toyota company coz it,s my personal expereince as i own a 1.6gli 99 toyota corolla and a 2.0 gli toyota Corona.

both have same consumption in long stretches .
    2.0 Gli is giving 12-13km
    1.6gli is giving 13-14

but if i increase the number of passengers then 2.0 consumption is better comparitively then a 1.6Gli

    e.g
u are drivin a Mehran and maintaining 120km/h and the throttle is pressed almost 85%

u r drivin a 1.6 Gli and maintinng same speed but throtle is pressed around 50-50%

it is directly proportionl to the opening radius of injectors or jets in carburretor

but again i thnk the Altis is gonna be a major Flop as people turning towards cheap and easy maintainance vehicles of 1000cc or less as intercity travellin isnt that Big a factor here but if u go to states then interstate highways are in 1000km stretches and even more

The cc in consumption will matter if the car is in idling condition

    less cc more mileage

and in Pakistan the Government has proved its ineffectiveness and the fuel has got very expensive

Anyway is altis a good choice to buy; I mean by paying almost 1 lac extra for the same old shape and eaten up alloys (one is compled to buy the alloys, that is the TRUTH).

Frankly guys I do not think the changes in the corolla really cost that much, the budgt relief has gone to the account of toyota indus.

I being a consumer ek aam aadmi think that it is not fair at all of the indus motors. Toyota lovers please do not take the matter personaly.

    thanks

    hi guys,
i think its simple maths, nop matter what toyota does as they've put ABS in vvti where are they gonna take the 1650 kgs of this huge car.... ABS improves handling druring braking doesnt shorten the braking distance much. so my guess is the new vvti will be more controllable during braking but the dist wud be pretty much the same.

by the way we owned toyotas for past like 24 years, i was a big toyota lover but then something changed and the new mellenium brought the new civic, new and improved. i must say toyota has done little to innovate. we owned the new corollas, xli, od, and od saloon. and in less than two years we have replaced them with hondas because of their superior performance. the older shape corolla was certainly one of a kind but this new shape gives u the feeling of granduer but take away control from u. the car goes where it wants to go, it has so mush momentum.

as for fuel consumption, only time will tell at present its claims on toyotas part and speculations on ours.

i seriuosly doubt the quality control of toyota because 2 of our cars had seriuocly malfitted rear suspensions at the time of delivery which had to be reparied at toyota dealerships and my complaints never even got replied by any toyota official.

anyway i used to laugh at guys who used to say once u drive honda u'll never drive toyota again. i used to mock them. but when i drove it for sometime, i realised honda is much better and i get less tired driving it.

coming back to vvti, toyota is again doing what it did during the ninties just changing lights and grill and declaring it a new model, these are their cheap tricks, but i do appreciate the ABS, God knows what 1.8 is gonna do to ur posket. as fas as i know the international model of toyota has no change in lights or grill, so once again they are making a fool out of us, as for ABS, the price which they were charging previuosly should have included ABS and if they've realised that thois is a seriuos lacking in the previous car than they should put it in all older versions free of cost. not to mention the fact that this inclusion of abs has come only after the fact that the extremely high accident rate of toyota due to its pathetic braking was discussed in national assembly and the govt officials were worried about their lives since most official cars are toyota.

so i suggest we all campaign to ask toyota to install ABS in the older models (new shape) at 50% cost.
