Default Corolla 2.OD engine creating starting problem

Can anyone help me out with this problem, i just bought my first disel car and had problem straight away. I have Corolla 99 Model and its disel engine took too much time while starting. It took that much time that sometimes battery goes down due to long self-starting.

I have checked it from a mechanic and he said that engine has lost its power and now whole engine should be REDO.

Please help me as its my first diesel can therefore i don't have much idea about disel engines.

    Regards,

    Muhammad Naveed

    Hmmmmm!!!

ur car is very old now so dont have any idea abt tht!!!

Check the fuel cap !!! is it completely tight or not ???

Open it and then close it by rotating it until it makes some sound like "traccccckkkk" ...lolx

when the fuel cap is not completely tight it .the car gives starting problems !!!

Secondly when u switch on ur ignition a yellow symbol appears like "00" ..wait until it disappears and then not start straight away !!!!

Press the accelarator and start ur car and leave it immediately ven ur car gets started !!! dont giv full race ,only give 50% race ....i mean do not fully press the accelarator !!!!

check the heaters...........increase the time duration for hetares to stay on.....10secs. recommended.

if engine gives whitsh smoke and consumes engine oil then the engine is weak otherwise not....if engine has excessive vibrations at low speeds and hard starting then one problem might be the fauloty vaccum pump or leakage in the fuel supply line from where air would be entening the fuel system.

Check the injection timing as well. I know it can have a huge effect on starting and smoke production. And it's cheaper than rebuilding an engine...
