You have put up a very good question, indeed.

I had the same question in my mind since long as I also own Sunny 1.3 (2005 make).

Let's see what the experts say...
Drive slowly and attentively! It's the only solution to avoid severe on-road accidents.

    Hello!
Well In Engine Power...Nissan Got Points As QG13DE Making 4Kw's More Than That Of Non VVT-i 2NZ-FE.......Situation Might Change If 2NZ In Indus Toyota's Have Got VVT-i In 1.3L....It Will Be Then Making Around 85Kw Then....!
Well Weight And Traction Issues Now Matters....!
I think Almost Both Car Weights Same Or Sunny Is Bit Heavy As It Used To Be As Always.....! So Its Gonna Be Tough......!
But Corolla Is Bit More Torquey Than Sunny.....!
    Its Gonna Be Tough.......!
Both Have Its Own Qualities..But I Prefer Sunny If I Have Nothing To Do With Resale And Spares.....! (y)
    Else TOYOTA....
    TOYOTA Sprinter 86- AE80 DOHC 20v'D TOYOTA Corolla 98- AE101 4AFE 16v
