Bilal, if you're going to compare car prices atleast compare similar markets. Compare the prices in countries like Spain or Finland and then tell me if Indus is really ripping off Pakistanis. To compare an itsy bitsy Pakistani market to the the US market will amount to nothing more than erroneous comparisons.
Even if I give you the benefit of doubt and look at the link you posted, the equivalent model, in your own words costs $17,150USD. Add freight and pdi of $1,150. Add 15% tax (Pakistan tax rate for comparison sake) which is $2,572.5. Add it all up now : $17,150 msrp + $1,150 freight and pdi + $2,572.5 tax=$20,872. How far away is THAT final price from the final price in Pakistan? So what if it's $2,000 cheaper to buy a Corolla in America than it is in Pakistan? Economies of scale make that price difference justifiable.
Do the same calculation for any other country you'll see that we're not that our price is not that bad after all. Here are some base model prices across some countries... they might have a few extra safety features but look at the pre-tax prices for a second!
Spain : $26,335.67 USD=1.65 million PKR
Finland : $30 203,76 USD=1.8 million PKR
Rumored base model price in Pakistan? 1.35 million PKR taxes inclusive.
Now tell me who's being ripped off.
