    Default Corolla AC issue :

    Salaam.

    Well, my 2006 auto Altis is now giving problems regarding its air-conditioning; in both cooling and air speed. Its running on petrol and is now 46,000km on the clock. I just want to ask if any other Corolla owners, or more specifically Altis guys, have experienced this problem. Because I did (re)fill the cooling gas, but only for a bit better performance. Its nowhere as good as it was before (say Fall 2007) and definitely not as good as my 2003 Civic.

    The question is - Why is a 2006 Altis' AC WORSE than a 2003 VTi when both are driven the same way, on the same fuel, and maintained the exact same way? Ive never touched the AC system of my Honda and Masha Allah its been 83000km+ and the cooling is still marvellous.

    The AC guy said you should install another cooling fan (for the condenser) as Corollas have only one, Civics have 2. He explained that was the issue because one side of the condenser was getting too hot, however I debated that just 6 months ago there was no problem like this.

    So is there an issue with the condenser, cooling fan, compressor or what! Cause its already summer and without a working AC it gets hard to go in the car.

    Please advise asap;
    Regards
    Syed

    Time to sell off your car.

    i believe your condensor might have burst. Get it checked and repaired, or buy a new one if budget allows.

    well i dont think civics have 3 fans in front...2 for ac n 1 for radiator.....furthur...the a/c wala is just wanna make money...the company installed a/c is best...they know u need 1 fan or 2 fans....

    get ur complete ac checked for leaks...if the gas pressure is still upto the mark..get gas refilled from an authorised pit-shop not some a/c wala across the street.. it'll cost u a bit more.but giv u a permanent solution to a/c...if u were in karachi i would hav guided u to one of my trusted a/c technician but u r in isb...the ac wala dont refill the gas upto the required level...they do this on purpose so that u may go to them again n again eventually paying more money.

    @c4capricorn

    The Civic I have (2003 VTi) has 2 cooling fans in front of the condensor, Altis has 1.

    @Waqar

    I doubt its burst!, though leaks are possible.

    @buksh

    Yea Im gonna take it on Friday

    By the way, how much would a new condensor cost (from the Toyota workshop) + installation?

    When was the last time you got the AC serviced?

    @whiteangel
    Ive never serviced the AC; never needed to. Just got the gas in I think 7 days ago or something.

    By the way, whats the recommended time to get the AC serviced in terms of km?
