    Default My 2009 Unborn Corolla (toofast)

    Don’t laugh! Yes I have bought me a Rolla. Here is the story behind it. My wife and I was looking for a third car for her work and grocery shopping etc. she has put 20k miles in 7 months on her lexus :s. Her daily driving is around 100 miles so we need something reliable but cheap on fuel. We were down to 4 cars. 1. Honda Civic hybrid 2. Toyota Prius hybrid 3. Toyota Corolla 4. Honda Civic (this was my list since she already told me that we will get Corolla :p). Went to Honda dealership (no hybrid available and civic was 2008 model) so decided to go to Toyota dealership again no hybrid available. Long story short, Julius(salesman) sold us a car within 30 mins :s. We got a great deal got loaded 2009 Corolla LE model $1500 below MSRP with 0% APR 0 down for 36 months with first free full tank of Fuel.
    Car has decent power and fuel consumption of 38 Miles to a gallon combine with 10% city 90% highway driving. This car has more room then 2008 Civic and looks not bad at all(y) This car has 2ZR-FE DOHC, 16 valve, 1.8L (1797cc) engine equipped with Dual VVT-i. Output for this engine is rated at 132 hp (98 kW) at 6000 rpm and 128 lb·ft (174 N·m) of torque at 4400 rpm

    @Toofast:
    Ah then it was a "thought out" purchase (even though it was pre-decided according to you!)

    When my cousin got his corolla, he made the first tank last for 2 weeks! How about you?

    That reminds me........ i wanted to ask about car selection in the same segment from members living in usa/ canada...... someone was totally pushing to get a camry instead of a corolla /civic.............. arguing that the price difference is not that much compared to value for money............ something makes me feel it was u :-)

    Camry was only 1k $ more. 6 month ago i would have bought Camry too but now its a new ball game. Gas prices are touching 5$ a gallon and there is no hope insight!

    Yeah the camry isn't looking too good now...

    ask an owner!

    The corolla is much more practical. Most camry owners just make the run to the school or to work, and it's much better to keep a Corolla than a Camry in such cases. A lot of people are actually turning to the new Focus as well, since it comes better equipped than the Corolla, but then again corollas never fall apart.

    @humangenius:
    They've got separate plants for separate cars. Camry and Corolla among others are built in Kentucky (as much as i know), and the Fremont, CA plant was right next to where i used to live- it had all the trucks built there.
