Default Got a problem with my 05 Altis Manual

    Hey guys.

    Got a slight problem.

-When ever i hit the breaks, i can feel the brakes grip the rotors and results in a slight jerk the steering wheel, very noticeable. This happens every time i hit the break (slow and moderate speeds).

-When ever i press on the accelerator pedal i can also feel this same slight jerk in the steering wheel.

(I am not sure if the problems are related)

I showed it to the guy where i got my wheels balanced and alignment done. Said that my control arm bushings were bad and need replacement.
-Also there is alot of play in the steering, while driving the car. The steering feels really loose.

    Anybody wanna take guess.

Also can some recommend a good mechanic in Lahore. Looking for good quality work.

It is not common to have such a problem with a 2005 Toyota Corolla. These cars are generally very durable and the only downside is the braking. Otherwise these cars offer solid value. I have seen these cars running like brand new well after crossing 200,000 kms.

If you are using large wheels or rims than you should get rid of them immediately. Similarly using high performance tires with speed rating of Z or V are not necessary as your vehicle is not designed to handle them. STick to the manufacturer recomended wheels and rims to prevent premature wear and tear.

Take you car to an authorized Toyota Dealer as opposed to third party shops and side kiosks. They may be more expensive but my experience tells me that it is worth it in the long run

i am using larger rims and tires. 215/45/17 with yoko avs z rated tires. Had them on ever since i bought the car. Never had a problem until this yr.

The car does sit for about 2-3months out of the year as i go back to the states.

Only have about 20,000km on it.

I bought the car due to the reliability factor and build quality. But was kinda disappointed when i started to notice the weird feel.

Thinking about taking it to the Toyota dealer near Kalam Chowk.

    Anybody have any other opinions?

I have seen the wheel and rims on your car and it goes without saying that none were/are designed for your car and this has resulted in accelerated wear and tear on the suspension on your car and if the vehicle was driven on rough road with these tyres than you obviously would have a suspension that would wear out a heck of a lot quicker.

Large wheels and tyres look good but i m sure you would understand that they add tremendous stress to the drive train and chasis and this has resulted in the problems that you mentioned above. Look at the sticker on the driver side of the car and use tyres suggested by the manufacturer. if u intend to keep the car than replace the wheels with Toyota approved wheels ( 14 inch only)

Your decision to go to a Toyota dealer is a good one.. go to a well known reputed toyota dealer .. This is not usa where you can go to Midas or Autozone and still be sure of quality work.. here in pakistan, ur best bet is your Dealer, in this case ur toyota dealer

Your decision to go to a

Your concerns about reliability are unjustified.. As i mentioned above, I have seen this version of corolla deliver top notch performance in the reliability paramter.. I have seen one with 465,000 with virtually nothing done to the car and i have seen many with over 200,000, running like they just came out of the show room
