    Default 2.0 D (2002) Vs GLi (2009) on M1

    Today I travelled from Rawalpindi to Rashkai on motorway early morning on my 2D. The road was clean with no motorway police. But light rain / drizzle was spoiling the fun as my tyres are bit worn out (done almost 30000 km).

    I came across a brand new GLi (2009) with HIDs. The driver was doing good 120 kph but with his HIDs on full beam and flickering them on anythig he sees ahead. I overtook him but this was too much for his ego.

    He pressed the pedal and his VVTi came out roaring with a good accelration from 120 to about 150 kph. I was annoyed by his HIDs so I pressed my 2D and old buddy 2C spilled its beans with a sluggish response from 130 to 150.

    Now at 150 both cars were neck to neck cruising on the flat M1 surface in the wee hours of a rainy morning.

    We exchange a quick glance. His ego riding on a brand new 1.3 VVTi and me trying to survive my honour on a six year old (100 k) driven 2 D.

    We both squeezing out the max we could get. I was in overtaking lane and he was in carriage lane. My tyres were bothering me as we had a wet surface. Both cars spraying a fine shower on each other. The mist was creating a dramatic effect.

    The black XLi with its aerodynamic shape and mean looking eyes (With HIDS they really look mean). Old 2D in rose mint colour (Which is slightly feminine) trying to save her honour.

    Till 160 we were together, at 165 2D was slightly gaining, at 170 2D was a cars length ahead, at 175 2D was doing a good lead.

    The I spottted a car in carraige lane which was posing an obstacle to the GLi. I cut the engine and motioned to call off the event. The other guy agreed and we both exchanged a parting wave and separated to avoid each other. It was almost daylight and he also switched his HIDs which was a relief to every one on motorway.

    2D is still a good engine. 1.3 VVti is good compared to old 1.3 engine from toyota in GLi / XLi as I have easily smoked many rollas on petrol previously. But this one was a tough cookie to handle.

    PS: Speed thrills but kills. Be careful not to over indulge in such adventures. Drive safe.

    Torque=121Nm
    It is impossible to please everybody.

    I have been involved in these races





    a) 04 OD vs Civic Exi. I was on OD and Exi cudnt keep up after 90kmph (3rd gear onwards)...





    b) 06 Xli vs OD. i was on Xli. OD dint leme smell its smoke...











    So my experience says that OD can beat an Xli any day...
    its not the size of dog in a fight... its size of FIGHT in the dog!!!

    in drag, during 1st & 2nd gears diesel might let u down...but from 3rd gear onward
    2.0D can beat **** out of 1.3 gli/xli.
    it depends on driver alot too,
    2.0d produces max output @ 4600rpm, whereas 1.3litre has max output @ 6000rpm
    secondly horsepower do matter alott!! 2.0D's have almost double Horsepower than small 1.3 litre engines.
    moreover.
    who dun believe, study torque & max output of engines, then drive some big D engine
    no offense to any one

    2d cant beat any 1.3 petrol .... im running 2d engine since 2000 i hav 2.0 limited in 2000 till 2004. in 2004 i have simple 2d now i have 2d saloon 2007........i hav chked many many times wid 1.3 petrols












    hahahahahahahahah LMAO lolzzzzzzzzzzzzzz bhai your engine has died or going to die than,according to me if this cant happen and if your car is Indus not altis because i have been to super highway many times and took my 2.0D limited indus to 180 km/hr brother,its just run Like Breeze brother so soft,my car was Indus 2001 2.0D limited corolla Toyota maintained,man it was my first diesal experience cant forget it 2.0D will ran away on 1.3 petrol car Easily,i know petrol engines are more fast than diesal but dont think its Ghada gari engine,and can be beaten that easily bhai i beat XLI,GLI,SE, 1.3 lancer all above 2003 models bhai, Indus really rox and 1 lac times better than 1.3 xli,gli and 2.0D altis CRAPs shape hmmm grip wise,suspension wise,etc...

    Bhai jaaan i also like to comment here that please for god sake dont compare INDUS COROLLA with ALTIS CRAP Indus 1 carore times better than altis Brown interior cant saves your life nore ABS the things that saves are brakes,suspensions,grip of the car though i dont think indus interior is bad...


    bhai 2.0d Limited Indus drive is just a hint on lower side than 1.6 GLi Indus drive bhai mai wo banda hooon jisne indus un condition mai rakhi hai jab showroom sai gari nikal k aati hai to jesi hoti hai wesi condition mai alhumdoLILLAh both 1.6 GLi Limited, and 2.0D Limited both are Breeeze Catchershere are my indus both bumper to bumper orignal cars and under 50 thousand km ranThe Silver is 1.6 GLi AUTO Limited Edition and Lavender is 2.0D Limited Edition


    i know altis shape 2.od has almost the same engine but experties might 2nd me that suspension,grip makes you booost a little more than zero grip worst suspension isnt it...!

    INdus COrolla is much better thna any 8th Gen Rolla as XLI is feel like i m flying on 100 while on INdus even on 150 feel so smooth

    Diesel rocks when we have after 120 kph while 0~80 Gasoline have Lead

    Also on inclindes Gasoline lags alot, as they even hard to keep the Speed Limit.

    ABSOLUTELY incorrect. The new common rail direct injection diesel engines easily outrun petrol engines of exactly similar capacities. e.g. the mercedes benz e 320 cdi is faster than the e 320 petrol

    have done 180km/h on rolla 07 with 5 ppl sitting in it...how can a non turbochargd around 70hp ,tons heavier than 1.3 beat it...

    honda fanatic im talking about acceleration. 0-60 mph. the diesel one is faster.

    I have a 2.0D 2004 and it has all the power but it doesn't go more than 140. Given sometime it touches 150 but thats it. All is perfect, the engine, the FIP, timings etc as far as I am maintaining it.......can someone guide me how to increase its max speed....the only thing is that its engine is overhauled and tyres are bigger 195/70R15.... any diesel car experts

    @all: i have an 09 gli, and i met an 06 exi on the motorway. till 160km/h its a beast, but i noticed k after 160 its difficult to push it forward, even on a straight road. mine is 5k done, on petrol..
    can post pics if u guys want, i had a friend with me doin the photography :p

    Thanks DCcoolguy and s_ruhail bhai these not just the best car i drove also the best cars which i saw so far in karachi under 50k km ran bhai,


    beaten several times from my 2.0D to 2008 GLI,XLI,SE bhai even diesal gives Strong Push's in 4th 5th gear:-S sometimes it was hard to handle due to its speeding mashAllah,and 1.6 GLi lolz i amd speechless n wordless for it;-) Guranteed over it and as i experienced aswell,VTi Cant Beat 1.6 GLi Indus in stock condition even if its manual as well,my GLi was Auto,boy no VTi was able to even touch me in pick up reaches in 100 on CNG in arround 9 seconds in auto in stock condition,i used to hate auto but on both petrol n CNG TOYOTA's Transmission Rocks yar,i felt pleasure to drive ithmmm


    but i rerequest that when every you set topic about corolla please mention whether its INDUS or ALTIS because both are Way different,like indus is A GOLD MINE and Altis is just a GOLD Spot

    20.d can never beat any 1.3

    on motorway.....with 5 person in car...pushing hard when on 130km/h till 170km/h.....no chance he can even come close

    20d has high CC and high compression ratio..which may can give batter torque but still its power is less then any 1300cc

    and it can cross 160km/h m not sure about that...but going away from 20d on motorway was like racing with 1000cc car
