You see more Corollas than Civics on the road, which makes the chance of a more diverse clientele using Corollas, not just less-educated people. I've seen paindoos driving Civics as well.

I don't want to start a flame, but I think the Pakistani public does not really understand what a driver's car is, they love what somebody rightly called a cab, and those of a little lively character go for what in heaven's sake but the pensioners' car. Civic is as slow and as bland at it gets (exept for the abomination I'd name next line). But what would you expect of us people who buy a Mehran more numerously than any other car.

I have nothing against both the brands, both are reliable cars, particularly the Civic since no VTEC controller has malfunctioned since 1992 according to Honda. But if you got taste, get something tad more sporty. Atleast get a Type-R if you want to stick with Civics.

BTW I drive a Corolla, 1976 one. And I must admit I'm someone with a muted character (as an example, I've never gone over 30mph!!! I simply don't want to, in the city at least).

"I don't want to start a flame, but I think the Pakistani public does not really understand what a driver's car is": dear belligerentPacific please no insult to the wisdom of Pakistani people. They know where to put their money. and buying cars be no means an index of their personalities. period.

the topic was based on general observation....but Pakistani brothers get emotional very quickly and start a personal warfare in few seconds : )
in short the Younger generation loves the Honda. Our senior and married class people somehow preffer Corolla.

yaar u can judge from the own . own on corolla is Rs.200,000 whereas Honda is only Rs.85000 so u see the difference of earth and sky so COROLLA RULES.
EAST OR WEST COROLLA IS THE BEST.

Salute to all “educated” and “uneducated” buyers!!!
Why? Just to give one example from Car insurance
Worldwide the car insurance is dependant on various factors like Age (teenage drivers are more costly to insure) - Younger drivers equal higher quotes Sex (females generally cost less to insure than males) - Males equal higher quotes, females equal lower quotes Marital status (married persons tend to have lower auto insurance claims) - Married couples receive lower quotes Driving record (tickets and auto accidents history for the prior 3-5 years) - Better driving records equal lower quotes Prior car insurance claims - Less claims equal lower quotes Personal credit history (lifestyle and income characteristics) - Good credit equals lower quotes
Distance traveled each day, and use of the car (commuting, leisure, business) - Less distance traveled equals lower quotes
Vehicle (year/make/model) - Expensive cars equal higher quotes, less expensive cars equal lower quotes
Territory - geographic area where the car is kept (urban areas are generally most expensive and may result in higher quotes)
    (from car insurance website)

But in Pakistan one has to pay on flat rate basis!

So you are educated enough to buy a car but not car insurance, obtain genuine driving license, follow traffic signals and sign boards and speed limits……..

In fact if education is any measure of cognitive decision making than no educated person would buy any car in Pakistan.

Some are big buyers, some are followers, some are niche, some are comparable and some are just common people; (un)educated and running families
soa sunhar ki, aik lohar ki!

@sprinter. Nice examples from US, but remember every country has its own environment and ways of doing things. Plus the human development indicators of Pakistan and USA are not same, so is case with the way of doing business and following business ethics.

The insurancec firms in PK fix the amount of premium on flat rate on the ex-factory price of the cars. But they also differentiate between various makes. For example Honda's have lesser premuim than Corollas, reason Corollas are car lifters' favourite, the maximum rate of premium is on 2.0D Corolla, only this car has been snatched in so many cases that 13 car insurance firms had to file bankruptcy in Karachi.

Like I said earlier before you get your next degree it is better to buy a Civic, coz even if you are uneducated you will look like an educated person with your dutti and hooka, lol!

Yeh me too also thinking to burn my Corolla and get a VTi Oriel AT to pose as an educated person, though I have spent four years at Quaid-i-Azam University passing out with MSc and MPhil degrees and later recieved trainings in Japan and Germany and presented research papers in international conferences. I did my MPhil thesis on environment which was readily published by National Book Foundation. I work for a multinational, but still I am uneducated (according to the suggestion of this forum) so the first thing I would be doing now to "look" educated is to include Honda in my CV. In fact the very first line on my CV should say that I drive a Honda. LOL
