    Unhappy CNG Prob with Cultus VXRi

    hi

    I have cultus VXRi 2007 with EFI. It's having a strange problem. When on CNG, its RPM starts fluctuating(it goes down/up), on petrol and in speed (in high RPM) there's no problem and it goes on quite fine. but as soon as i slow it down and press the clutch it fluctuates severly or goes off.

    Sometimes after 10/12 KMs, it gets OK and there's no such prob. But now this happens very rarely that it becomes OK.

    I repeat there's not problem when car is in speed or on petrol. Plugs are fine, filter is find, just got oil changed and mechanic checked tappets and said they are in fine position.

    I visited a CNG experts, they said I would have to get it fixed from Suzuki using computer, I went to Ali Jan Motors service center, they just over-wrote ECU parameters and said it's done. But problem didnt get resolved. Their CNG specialist was on leave and they said get it checked by some CNG expert. I think they attached laptop wire with ECU only and did'nt check it using OBD DLC.

    I am really frustrated now. Failed to understand where to go.

    Any suggestions?

    @shahzadmunir

    Try Mini Motors, just below the Jinnah Fly Over which lands one in Cavalry. I used to face the same problem, its a factory defect in most of the earlier Vxri's. Dunno if it resolved in the newer models. I used to face the same issues yet the guys at Mini always found a solution for it. Give them a shot.

    This is because using of bad quality stepper motor by Pak-Suzuki Motors,the function of this device is to control gas flow according to engine rpm so that we could get better fuel economy,But unfortunately due to bad quality of stepper motor,it has become headache to people driving efi cultus.I have resolved this problem by doing some work on stepper motor myself.
    You can over come this problem by replacing stepper motor with Desi Power T or by removing spindle from stepper motor.

    Thumbs up Cultus VXRi 2007 "Jhatkey" Solved

    My cultus problem is just solved,The Problem is in plug wires,replace them with "New Special Plug wires for Cng",n my problem is solved,any one tries it n than post comment here.
    Try this before going for any other thing,

    I have bough the plug wires from MA Jinnah road Karachi,

    dear pw fellows so its obvious ... i have heared from many ppl n dealers n especially cultus owners ...carborator cultus is faaar better than efi cultus...
    it seems that whenever suzuki introduces electronics in there units... it creates great problems for suzuki owner/customers are concerned...n effects realibility and sales of suzuki.......example is liana and now cultus efi...initially boost sale coz name of suzuki cheapness market monopoly n then all shattered due to ppl/dealers/owners response...isnt so...?

    hi

    sorry guys, i was busy and couldnt post reply on the forum.

    I took my car to Mini Motors, Cavalry Lahore. Tappets were tight, they adjusted them, plugs were weak, got them changed, wires, according to them, are fine and most important as described by argtr65, the main problem was with stepper motor fitted on the pipe connected with air filter pipe and CNG kit. They told me about this issue. I couldnt notice but they did something with that motor and car worked fine. Normally CNG workshops dont check this motor and they are afraid of touching EFI cars. Any one having similar issue should have this stepper motor checked!

    Now from 3 days back, I am again having problem with CNG, it doesnt convert to CNG and engine gets switched off. But after riding it some miles on petrol, CNG works fine. In the morning it takes more miles while afterwards it converts a little quicker.

    Everything else is working fine, once converted successfully, pick and milage is good, AC works fine.

    What may be the issue? Any expert opinions.

    @argtr65 for future problems, what did you do with motor to avoid this issue?

    stepper motor jams i guess
    use a manual T and relieve urself
    Life is short and very unpredictable just like a Quarter mile .....

    That came in my mind too, but I am failed to understand why it becomes fine after ride of few miles. Can this be vaccum related issue?

    Clean butterfly and water radiator and put coolant into it.
    I got the same problem and there was too much rust on the sensor locating at butterfly. I think that is TPS.

    i spent 14.5k rupees on the stupid lambda thing.
    changed stepper motor once for 4k. still had issues.
    i tossed the whole thing out. when the stepper motor used to get jammed. i used to tap plyers on it. it used to start working again.
    Life is short and very unpredictable just like a Quarter mile .....

    @cmh
    Mechanic suggested me to go for this too. I got throttle cleaned by mechanic and recently replaced radiator with new a week back because once in an accident it got leaked and now repairing wasnt working. didn't help me

    I had to ride my car on petrol for about 2.5 months and this CNG issue arose afterwards. I think motor remained idle for a long time which caused a jam and this whole problem started. I am fed up with this and would go for desi power T

    May be accelerator wire getting stuck near butterfly. Check the accelerator wire in the wire cover (BLACK COLOR), whether it is smooth or not.

    Can someone explain wht does stepper motor do in this setup...
    and does cultus vxri have some setup to partially obstruct airflow on CNG and allow full air flow while on petrol....and if this job is done by stepper motor is it controlled by ecu or CNG emmulator?

    Yesterday car was not converting to CNG. i opened this stepper motor, moved the piston a little bit along its axle against spring, and CNG started working for me and it's fine uptil now!!!

    @shari99 I think it's controlled by ECU, Its purpose is fuel economy and its location shows that it works for CNG only, may be they have put something else for petrol. May be someone else can elaborate this a bit more!

    Hey guys, this problem was majorly because of cng/petrol mixing problem. I discussed this issue in the thread https://www.pakwheels.com/forums/cng...dle-going-down. This problem is resolved.

    If you dont take me as a problem child, i want answer on two more questions:

    rarely, 1-2/10 times, car idles at nearly 200 rpm, needle is on the line adjacent to zero rpm line, and then it becomes normal. with almost same frequency, when car starts moving, pick is not good and it seems that car is not getting enough cng, then suddenly it becomes normal. I think this is because of that stepper motor. I must have it replaced with power T.

    second, car is heating up when with AC on CNG. AC is working quite fine. My radiator is new with coolant, AC fan is working. Is this because of dirt in condenser or what ?

    but I need to know what is power T I read this thread from start and came to know every body is pissed by Stepper Motor and got success by power T..

    I can get piks of stepper motor but I dont know which part is called Stepper motor ..
