    Default Today I Drove a "thing" people call it "Cultus"

    Well I never drove a Cultus before, all time I used to Drive Corolla 88, Land Cruiser and Mitsubishi Intercooler. Today I took a test drive of old Cultus 2001 VXL model. The engine doesn't seems to be powerful I needed to drag it on First Gear after stopping (Usually I drag on 2nd gear of my Corolla 88) Second most strange thing was its "breaks" its breaks were absolutely not effective at all, I was about to hit front car, thanks GOD I decided to apply breaks from little more distance otherwise it could have hit the front car. The car owner said "Cultus ki breaks toh aise hi hoti hian" {Weird}

    Secondly, the road grip was pathetic... the car seem to be floating on the road as ship Frankly speaking I didn't drive more faster, just because of though that "what if I have to apply break suddenly - this car won't stop"

    My Corolla 88 (1994 Quota) is much much much much much much better then this... it really has Great Grip and Awsome breaks, even on 80Km/h I always have mental satisfaction that if I have to apply breaks suddenly then car WILL STOP within seconds.

    I have request to Suzuki Culuts Owners to please guide me if this is wrong and the car I drove was defective OR PakSuzuki is fooling people by selling these "things" called "cars"

    @rajadadevil: Good points.. I loved to hear those... well first thing first... yes it is difficult to find clean corolla 88. But I'm not saying for the avialibility of eaither corolla 88 or Cultus. I was just saying that even 88 manufactured car is better then 2001 build cultus. And for my opionion Cultus even can't stand with Corolla even 82. Check the body material, power, handling... (its my opinion)

    2. Yeah Corolla 88 doesn't has ABS but still works so well. Now if it had ABS then you know better what could be the results. But again its about Cultus.. so both Corolla 88 and Cultus doesn't have ABS and corolla 88 performs awesome.

    3. Yes Cultus is still in production, but I have search and seen on PakWheel many Factory Build Defects, such ride can't reliable in any case. If you just drive roughly even recently bought Cultus, I think you may need to go straight to Mechanic. On other side if even you spins the corolla 88 roughly on ground, then you can easily take it to home (its suspension/shocks are ideal for hilly areas of NWFP and Balochistan). Where as if you ask for long drives then still people love to have Good Condition Corolla not Cultus.

    4. And yes you are right, every driver needs to be adjust according to car, its handling etc... but for every car atleast basic functions should work like Proper Braking, some reasonable Road Grip

    Well yes everyone has its own opinion, I have also seen many thread on PakWheels people insulting Cultus new looks with awkward rear lights and stuff.. but still people are buying it and I have seen many on roads. So everyone has its own taste.

    Correction,
    The Corollas produced from 2001~2008 were having bad brakes.
    The current gen. Corolla is having much better braking.

    @rajadadevil... agreed that corolla 2002-2008 didnt have good brakes... but that wasnt Corolla's or toyota's fault... that was a fault from Indus motors.. while the car the poster is talking about is a 1988 Corolla which was Japanese Assembled... means they r more reliable and brakes are much better then nrmal non ABS brake cars Assembled Locally ...

    even though its a 1988 model... i can guarantee its still way reliable then Cultus.... Cultus is pakistan assembled... which means every now and den u have to take it to the mechanic... while 1988 corolla will give less maintanance probs compared to Cultus...

    currently i would also say if i have to spend around 500-600K on a Cultus... i would rather go for a Civic 1996 or a Corolla 1988 or 1993 etc compared to Cultus... cx they are more comfortable, more reliable, better driving experience, better road grip, good brakes, etc

    @poster

    looks like you were trying to do something like formula1 drivers do behind safty car

    when ever u drive a new car(mean to say first time) drive it way below the limit

    secondly they are not bad either.....no doubt the quality is low

    when driving a second hand car..expect any thing from it....most of the owners dont take care of cars...and still wish car to perform as new

    @RavAGE & abdullah1: Well no doubt about 86-88 Corollas... the local craps can't even stand with those clean rides.

    @rozzzzz: You are right, I kept the factor that it was 2001 build car, so I was not expected performance of Formula1 (not atleast from a car like Cultus). But the Breaks and Road Grip are the most basic specs of the car. These shouldn't be that much low quality, well I don't know Govt. allowed these type of car in market, it is full time life threat (but I think only Pakistan Govt. can allow these and doesn't ask Suzuki for that thing they are charging 900K??? )
