I have the same question, I have Cultus as well with the OEM Steel Rims n General Tires, ( 155/80/13) 40,000KMs driven front tire has loose grip

suggest me if its good and safe to use USED/Refurbished tires, and what about having used/japanese Alloy rims
i have seen some rims in Faisal Town, Lhr and some of them were even heavier then the steel ones, while in Bilal gang some of the Branded Alloy Rims(as said by shopkeeper) were very light, (u can lift and hold them from 2 fingers) .. is it safe to use these rims n tires,
    kindly suggest.

PS: Faisal Town shopkeepers asking for 24 to 30k, while in Bilal Gang it was 20 to 22k (rims n tires)

Brother I won't suggest used tyres as it's hard to tell about their life.

So for the safety of you and your Family stick to the original steel rims and buy a new tyre right now and after a while if you have enough money than buy Alloy rims.

thanks for the swift reply, from going through the forums i have seen that Michelin has the more positive opinions than any other tire. and surprisingly there are many followers of General tires on the forum

and how about the USED Alloys , is it worth to buy Used Alloys or should i go with new alloys as well, in Bilal Gang a shopkeeper was telling me he has genuine suzuki alloys with the 'suzuki' written on back/inside of the rim, ..

i guess every tire life for General is more dependent on time period, now matter how much u have driven after 3 years(in punjab) they got dry and hard. dont know about the other brands, but yeah General tires does this.

i have driven 40k in 3 years and they r hard n dry now, while my friend has driven general tires for 60,000kms in 2.5 years so the tire life depends on both, time period and km range

Brother you can buy used Alloy rims.
Just make sure that they are not out of shape and its not damage.
as i told you before i visited Faisal town and Bilal Gang. the rims i have seen at bilal gang were really light i wonder if they can even lift the car weight :p , and when i flip them the inner material was not very well finished i meant that was not SMOOTH it was like tempered. while the rims(new) at Faisal town were really smooth from inside but were a lil heavier.

and tires prices at Faisal town Asfahani road were

    Dunlop 490 - Rs. 4800/-
    Bridgestone - Rs. 5200/-
    Yokohama - Rs. 6000/-
    Michelin - Rs. 6200-6500/-

Michelin were available at few shops

and the shopkeeper was suggesting me 2 more brands
    Kumho Rs.6000
and one more chinese brand i dont remember its name, he was saying its a michelin brand as well Rs.6200

tires prices have been increased massively

And tge the price u quoted are for sumgeled tyres. Michelin xm2 imported 7500.

Try calling khawaja auto 37700740 / 37700656/ 03218863164 they are the authorise distributer in lahore if u are looking for michelin.

Otherwise ask for hankook korea cost 5000.

And michelin has no Chinese brand available in Pakistan.

Brother if u have budget issues than general is alright.

    After michelin xm2 @ 7500 I will recommend Hankook Korea @ 5000 or ZEETEX china @ 4500.
