Question Recommended engine oil for Cultus EFI

    Dear All,

I have cultus 2008 efi and need experts OPINIONS to use best engine oil which is better for engine performance as well as the fuel economy.

Last time i had used Toyota multigrade API SL/CF 20W50. it is good but i want to change this time.

also confirm about the difference if i will use high grade oil like 20w50 OR low grade like 10w40 or 15w40. which grade is better for efi cultus (mileage around 100k)??

    some oils which i know....

    Shell helix hx5 10w40 or 15w40
Petromin ultra 20w50 (some ppl said it is thick oil??)
or toyota one as mentioned above

What would be the better option for suzuki cultus 15k driven. Currently I am using 10w-40 pak suzuki oil ( which is I think total quratz5000). Oil change interval is around 4500km. 4 liter bottle costs 2160 on pumps but I think pak suzuki charges some extra I don't remember exact price.
So far the vehicle fuel consumption remains good 17kmpl on highways with ac but low in city 12 to 13.6 kmpl in city driving.
Please let me known any better option of engine oil for performance and economy.

I think sgo ultimate 10w40 api sm is perhaps the best option for a cultus. Just stick to it. The best viscosity for cultus is 10w40. No thinner and no thicker. So more or less all the 10w40 available in the markets are the same. And yes, suzuki does charge some extra probably because of the suzuki stamp. However I think it is best to stick to it

The most suitable oil for an efi cultus is zic 15w40. Old name was zic m, new name is zic x3

My suggestion is to use any trustworthy fully synthetic oil. My favor goes to Zic A+, SAE 5W20. Always use the original or Japanese oil filters. Newer compromise the quality.

Not at all. Using 5w20 in a cultus is never recommended. Furthermore it is api sn which is again not suitable for a cultus efi. The thinnest oil for the cultus is 10w40, no thinner than that. And api grade sj or sL should be used. No newer than that.

Cultus Efi needs 10W40 SG SJ grade and Cultus 2000-2007 carb models need 5W30 10W40 SM SN

Thanks for your valuable response. What is sgo? Is it better than Zic m? Which would be better. Thanks

Sgo is suzuki genuine oil. The one suzuki uses in its vehicles. sgo sells two oils. Both are 10w40. One is api sm and the other is api sg. For mehran, alto, efi cultus the api sg one should be used. However for cultus carburetor model and new swift 1300cc api sm should be used.
To answer your question, for a cultus efi I would recommend zic m 15w40 over sgo 10w40 api sg because zic m is superior. However you may find zic m with the name of zic x3 now

Its really odd that newer model of cultus require old api sg where as older carburettor cultus require newer specifications. Its really tough to understand. Thanks for info anyways

Sj also works fine. And in extreme cases, SL may also be used. But no newer than that

Dear. Well I used Total quratz5000 10W40 api SN. Before I was having my cultus euro 2 serviced from 3S, where they poured SGO ultimate 10W40 SM (I think its made by Total). I thought that switching to Total Quartz 5000 10W40 would not be an issue but was not aware of API specifications then.
Now please tell me what should I be doing. Stick to total or go back to sgo ultimate.
    Regards
