    The same problem I face
Mechanic suggest me to check valve(Head)
After opening head we check that one valve of that cylinder is leaking
So I have two options only repair/change that valve or repair/change all head/valve
I decided to change all valve + guide and new seats for valve
This Saturday I spend all day in the workshop
Now I feel a lot of good
    My engine had new life.
Total Cost is 7000 Rs Parts + labor

If the Inlet valve is leaking to the extent that it does not allow compression then there should be a backfire in air intake and if exhaust valve is leaking the the same extent then there should be some backfire in exhaust pipe....so i think this is not the case if there is no backfire and you have said HT wire and plug is ok with that i also assume that distributir is discharging correct current to that cylinder too....
My recommendation is to investigate the issue completely before going for the expensive head overhaul job...
