    Default Adjustment of Cultus on CNG and Petrol using STAP 00B

    My car is Cultus 2006 and came with STAP 00B (Sequential Timing Advanced Processor) equipped from the factory. I know that this STAP is basically a retarder which retard the timing when car is driven on petrol. And the procedure according to the STAP manual and posts here on PW says to adjust the timing mechanically using distributor first on CNG and then switch to petrol. When switched to petrol, adjust the timing using variable resistance knob within STAP box under the dashboard. Also cut the wire going from pick-up coil to distributor. In this way, your car will be tuned to both CNG and petrol at the same time. (Please correct me if I am wrong)

    The other day I went to mechanic for CNG adjustments after driving on petrol for 3 months. Initially its timing was adjusted to 10 deg BTDC on petrol. Now, mechanic has put back air blockage as well as advanced the timing to 18-20 deg BTDC. I asked him if timing can be adjusted using STAP. He drew a face as what the heck I was talking about!!! Not so many people knows about STAP in Cultus.

    Now problem I am anticipating is that with car tuned on CNG settings with 20 deg BTDC, if I switched to petrol without STAP adjustment the car will drive on 20 deg BTDC on petrol which is far too much advanced and may lead to high petrol consumption as well as chances are that it will start knocking. I want to run on petrol with 10 BTDC and on CNG with 20 BTDC without compromising fuel average and performance. That is possible with the help of STAP 00B but I don't know how to do it and neither do the ustaads!

    @umarkhan1 @shamail_haider

    Can I DIY this STAP adjustment? If there is any pictorial description you or anyone here on PW can provide, it will be highly appreciated as well as will help a lot to PWers who dont know what wonders can STAP do to the car! As It will literally shut the bonnet of the car from mechanic

    Ok. The wire connecting pick-up coil to distributor in STAP; do I need to cut that wire also? What about air blockage? Should it be removed or not?

    Thanks for quoting me.
    Bro, I've never been in this STAP process. Even I never heard about it from Suzuki Sialkot guys. My mechanic is a well known mechanic of Sialkot but he never discussed STAP with me. I went to him after the CNG closure to tune the car on petrol and he retarded the timing manually which lead into severe knocking and heavier engine RPM from 3k to 4k. Then he made it advance manually again. The fuel consumption got much better but the black smoke was still there so he opened the carburetor and made some adjustments which resulted into proper fuel burning.
    Now 2 days ago I went to CNG mechanic and he simply adjusted the CNG flow and mixture level which is giving me impressive mileage and better throttle response.
    I'd suggest you to ask the Suzuki guys in your area first and insist on what you want because you've gathered proper info about STAP.

    Umar is right. Do not remove the air blockage if you are running it on CNG. If your Car is FF CNG, the intake will have the air blockage which is a proper compatibility both for Petrol and CNG. And yes plz share the step by step process if you successfully complete the desired project.

    @umarkhan
    Mileage is around 1 lac 6 thousands. Do u think 10w 40 will be good for such an old motor?
    P.S. Do you recommend KIXX (only original) for such an engine ?
