Upto 900k in bigger cars abroad but fuel quality is better abroad and so are engine oil and other lubricants. I have seen taxis do easy 700k with 2500cc or 4000cc engines.

Although original meter was working fine but it was changed to have rpm meter at 415000 , as back in 2001 suzuki only gave milage meter .

Sounds like my dad's '03 Cultus. It would have covered ~520k km today if he hadn't got a Civic back in 2010. Right now, the Cultus is sitting at 330k km, and the Civic is at 290k.

It was consuming a lot of oil, so he replaced the valve guides and valve stem seals himself at home. I helped (mostly handed him tools); it was a great learning experience nonetheless.

Your father did that without removing head?

No. He suspected that the valve guides were lose, so he had to remove the head.

We do have an air-compressor at home though; he has used it once to replace the valve stem seals a few years ago.

Engine oil, Oil filter and Air Filter are basic keys for long life of engine. Have seen a suzuki margalla which is around 500k kms, it was being fed Caltex Delo now it has weak valves. 1997 margalla 500k kms, and my teacher used to have a corolla i guess it was 1.8L 7afe it was also around half a million kms and he used to praise the car a lot.

Very true. Good engine oil, oil filter and air filter, plus car should be driven in limits, e.g suzuki I am talking about has never driven above 95 . May be once at 100 in her whole life. She is still being fed with Japanese air filter ,cost around 1200 pkr. Same is the case with engine oil and oil filter.
