    Default Re applying the thermostat

I have been driving my car (suzuki cultus vxr 2004 142k km odo )without thermostat ( direct fan ) for the past 5 years but now want to put new original suzuki thermostat back in. I have a do number radiator cap as well.

Can anyone tell me the steps to take to re applying the thermostat ? Like changing the china radiator cap with original one with corect pressure and ......... your opinions matter alot

I assume that you are talking about Suzuki Cultus.
If you have been using your car on water since a long time then properly de-rust your car's cooling system by using some flushing technique.

Check for all the rubber hoses replace the worn out hoses with good qualty new one's.

In case of cultus there is a metal pipe running to the water pump check that pipe if it's rusted internally then replace that pipe with a new one.

Check the water pump for its operation.

Check the condition of Radiator if its channels are not clogged then it's good to go otherwise get it serviced or changed if not in serviceable condition.
    Make the Radiator fan auto.
Put in tstat valve. Cultus uses 82 degree centigrade one.
Use the 88kpa 0.9 bar radiator cap.
    Pour in some good coolant.
