All three cylinder engines are inherently noisey and produce vibrations. (This is as far as my experience is concerned). Reason being piston movement is not balanced as in 4/6/8 cylinder engines. Only solution is try to put a noise insulation padding on fire wall and hood. This is normally used in diesel cars. But still vibrations will remain there. Cant be eliminated.

Or alternatively, you just might wanna try flicking the ignition key TWO notches anti-clockwise! That is a sure fire method of shutting up the noisiest of engines!

Thanks MICS420 for the response; whatever but at least you tried to send a sensible reply unlike the other members who make the nick as if they are GODs of cars but they virtually suck. Putting an impressive nick will not help them getting even close to a GADHA GARI WALA..

piston movement is balanced, it's not like 4 cyl engine, that 2 are reaching cyl top and 2 are hitting bottom, they lag 60 degrees instead of 180. piston movement is imbalanced if one cyl is not functioning and crankshaft is pushing its piston instead of piston/connecting rod doing this to crank.

as far as noise is concerned, i think it depends on material used and compression ratios, and of course valves play an important role. cultus have only 6 valves.

Seriously, I think the air cleaner needs some modification, a sound box like diesel cars can solve the problem. worth a try, i guess.

well, the sound is not from the engine.. .its from the car's cooling fan...i also have a cultus... to check whether its ur engine or that fan, just take out it's wire and then crank the engine and notice the dropping of sound... but after checking put the wire back or u will blow up ur engine... lolz.. bye

Hey Hunchback, we did that last night to my bro's cultus after reading the post and found that the sound is from engine not from the fan. Can't you hear the same sound from your Cultus? Its really pathetic man but I have got no choice as my Cultus is about to arrive. It would be a company car so seriously have no choice..

Yeah man, I had noticed in Khyber as well but in Cultus its really pathetic. These Pak Suzuki guys do not even have a website so that we can ask our concerns, they suck big time man.

I have also noticed the same gravelly, metallic sound coming from the cultus's engine. No matter how new the engine it sounds coarse and ru\ough. I think there is no solution to this as this is probably a manufacturing flaw and the owner will have to live with it. The irritating thing is that its also audible inside the car so sound proofing might be a good idea.

Actually our irritated friend here is mentioning the characteristic whine/cringing sound of thr OHC G10. Its BELT WHINE, and an inherent design characteristic, there's nothing you can do about it besides installing an aftermarket timing belt and/or using a timing belt vocer off an older engine (Swift sedan).

zainfeb.. i meant to say that 40 % of the noise is from the fan when the car is running at IDLE SPEED.... maybe installing a bigger muffler would help////////////// lolz
