Default Cuore's engine hiccuping on CNG on 4th gear

    Hello Folks:

Almost a week ago, I got my hands on the Cuore CX CNG I had booked earlier. It came 43km driven. On the first day of getting the car, I drove what I remember to be around 20km or so on CNG. I should mention that the car came with an empty petrol tank, but the CNG tank half full (from which I presume that the initial 43km were done on CNG). In the even of the first day, when I took out the car after a brief rest following a long drive, I noticed that the engine in the car was hiccuping on second and third gears. It would feel as if the car were throwing up -- almost shaking. The next day when I took the car out for a short drive, I felt the same hiccups again, which deteriorated the driving experience completely. I figured it could be due to running the airco on CNG, but having turned off the airco, I could feel the same hiccups on second and third gear. The engine wouldn't hiccup all the time, but most of the time.

I immediately took the car into the authorised service centre where they serviced it to get rid of the poor pickup problem. After the service, I did not feel hiccups.

However, I have noticed that if I shift into the fourth gear, the car would start shaking severely, with the engine coughing up. It feels as if the CNG supply gets restricted. At first I thought that keeping the foot on the pedal would gradually get rid of the hiccup in the fourth gear, but the car would go on shaking and shaking until I would downshift.

I then switched off the fuel supply to petrol to narrow down the problem to carburetor. But to my surprise, the car picked up surprisingly well on any all the gears I tried it on. I took the car well into the fourth gear, pushed it hard, slowed down, pushed hard again, while staying on the fourth gear, but I felt no problems.

However, on CNG, the car starts shaking. I am not sure what the problem really is. I will take the car again into service centre. It is a brand new year (with Tracker installed, I may say, but I don't expect Tracker to have caused this problem).

Any clues and suggestions would be appreciated. It's a brand new car.

    Thanks.

    1. Clean your sparks plugs.

    2. Clean air filter as well

    3. No setting required for CNG, just its check flow setting

according to me first of you shouldnt drive a brand new car on CNG.. atleast for first 20,000 Kms i noe dats a lil long but atleast 10000kms or 5000km i guess even the recomended by company is 1000kms.

hicuping i guess its wid coures, minute hicuping is felt my friend has 2 coures, nd i guess dats hicuping which i couldnt figure out wat is it.

and if the car is still brand new keep eating the heads of Toyota people unless u get completly satisfied, as i guess u paid a darn 7 lacs for it.
Get over the fact that Xli lacks power windows, Its an Xli because it lacks thoose features or else it would be a Gli or an Altis if had all the goodies.

    Thank you for your reply.

I will take the car into the service centre again. Having a [new] car start to hiccup at 55 to 60km or more in unacceptable.

I am a mechanics klutz, but apart from the third point you stated, wouldn't the first and second create problems when the car is driven on petrol?

I meant to say that, wouldn't dirty spark plugs and air filter pose the same problem when the car is driven on petrol, as they do when it is driven on CNG?

    Thank you for the wishes.

I am also hoping it is nothing but a tuning issue. I will take the car in.

@aakhan85,I will never advise u to go to dealership because they r not capable to set the vehicle on cng properly,it is better to get it tuned from out side by any well known cng mechanic.

I took the car in the service centre for tuning. It works perfect on CNG now.

there might be leaking in the cng or not properly installed cng lines due to which engine is taking excess air-intake. check that. and secondly for new car i dont see a need to check spark plugs or air filter.

i personally feel that your car is not making / getting enough required vacuum.
