    Default Rear Wheel bearing Cuore

    Hey Guys!!

Since yesterday, I am hearing a whistle/grinding like sound from rear when my cuore cross 20 km/h speed.. its audible while driving and i think its coming from right rear wheel..

Can any body tell me is it wheel bearing? if it is than what are the consequences if I leave it as it is for about 2-3 months? What is the cost of new wheel bearing?

    Thanks

It can be of bearing or brakes. Sometimes the handbrakes are not realeased resulting in such noise. Get it checked from mechanic.

never drive on noisy bearings, if they eat themselves up or lock you would be dealing with a locked up car at minimum or road kill at maximum.

Always ensure that the correct grease is used for wheel bearings and that the grease seal(s) is (are) in place. The bearing cavity void should be filled with grease so that grease can roll in the bearing cages.

btw wheel bearing grease is not super stiff thick stuff, it should not be more than NLGI2 in thickness.

To judge that it is really the rear wheel bearing, put the car on jack from rear wheel section, rotate the wheel with force and while wheel will be moving put your palm on the car's body like rear pillars and feel,if your hand felt any vibration then be sure this would be the rear wheel bearing issue.
Mostly rear wheel bearings comes with hubs they also comes separate but our genius mechanics with hammers in their hands could damage the bearing during thrusting them into the hubs.
Rear wheel bearing with the hub assembly,chines/taiwan made would be around 1.5k max, each side.

i changed the bearing of my cuore's left rear wheel . it started producing grinding noise. check was that we take car to speed of say 60km/h , then switch off engine, now noise was visible as it coming from back side. cost of bearing was around Rs. 200/-make NTN,year was 2011,
there are two bearings in each wheel. one is bigger and other is smaller.our damaged was smaller one.
