Exclamation CVT Transmission: "D" is blinking while turn on the engine

Daihatsu Mira X Limited 2010

I have noted that since last few days, as i turn on the engine, on odo meter, the PRNDSL is blinking as:

When On "P", Blinks "P" to "D" (like P D P D P D)
When On "R" => "D", Blinks "R" to "D" (like R D R D R D)
When On "N" => "D", Blinks "N" to "D" (like N D N D N D)
When On "D" => Just blinking
When On "S" => "D", Blinks "S" to "D" (like S D S D S D)
When On "L" => "D", Blinks "L" to "D" (like L D L D L D)

Please suggest,
Is there any issue in CVT Transmission ?
If there is any issue what kind of of issue it would be ?
Any Specialist of CVT in karachi ?

Thanks in Adv.

Have you changed CVT oil? If not have it changed asap. Blinking D mostly means transmission failure. Have your car scanned for specific error codes or try resetting the ECU. Pull out the negative cord of battery first and than positive cord. Wait for 30min although actual time is 10min but being on safe side keep it disconnected for 30m.

Than connect the terminals in reverse order positive first and than negative.
Start your car and drive it around as if you do on daily basis for 30min. See if problem is eliminated if not than have its oil changed and scanned.

open the bonnet and check for connector over the transmission, possible lose electrical plug. - also as other respected member suggested transmission oil change is squarely recommended across the forum [ by xulfiqar, syncview, argtr65, rustam54 margallar, Naweed ] for JDM vehicles landing in Pakistan.

Not yet change the CVT Oil, but i am searching for compatible CVT Fluid for my car. Odo meter reading is 40870 KMs and as recommended in the Mira Manual, oil change is due on 50000 KMs (in another post Xulfiqar mentioned CVT oil change 80000 KMs for first time and then on every 50000 KMs)

Today, i will scan the car to find the error code.

I pulled out the battary for about 30 min as mentioned but the prb exists as it is. As i set the battary and turn on the ignition, blinking of "D" was there.

Where could i find the CVTF for mira x limited in karachi ?

I had this problem and yes, I had a battery issue but it was coupled with the low transmission oil. I went to Toyota and bought the standard 4L Teen Dabba CVT oil and have not faced any problem since. However, I agree with the poster's suggestion to get your car scanned. 500 rupees spent can save you a lot of trouble later.

I just came from Toyota Service center at Khalid Bin Waleed Road, they checked the oil condition manually and said oil is ok and upto the required level. But they did not scanned the car as they have not such software for Daihatsu Mira to read the codes related to CVT.

Kalia, what type of battery issue ? I am facing this issue since the day, my brother pulled out the battery and clean the area around battery by using a cloth (kapray se jharaa)

Check For Any Loose Connections Or Its Indicating A Bad Sign Of Transmission.....You Feeling Any Strange Behaviour After These Lights ??

Any Sound From Transmission etc??? If Its all ok and driving Ok then manually check for all grips....

it can be anything from loose connection to ATF change To bad solenoid/sensor to bad or slipping tranny.....!

Try looking for scanner who can scan .....and replace ATF ASAP....its already due...don't wait and believe on Km's....changing ATF just 6000 early km won't do any harm but keeps your tranny on safe side....!

A good idea would be to stop believing that the 2010 model import is actually driven 40870 KMs and change the tranny oil ASAP.

One of cvt mechanic told me that its ECU could be faulty and needs to be repaire or change.

I m also searching for compatible cvt fluid for my car daihatsu mira x limited but not yet found.

I have searched out the karachi market but could found the compatible CVTF for my car.

Could a faulty ECU be a reason behind this blinking ?
